I rode over to my FLGS - Dragon's Den Games - and picked up a few items they'd ordered in for me... and while I was there I found they had a Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut!? So I grabbed that as well, along with some Green Stuff!
Skull Altar, Judgements (Definiely-not-SPELLS!) of Khorne, Lord of Khorne or Juggernaut, and some Green stuff.
I was really excited to find they still had a Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut. I think the Mighty Lord of Khorne that I have looks kind of goofy and I'd much rather my forces be led by this:

It's a pretty rad model, right!? And yet, it's been discontinued!? WHY!?
Well here's why it's been discontinued...
It's Finecast Resin model?!
I get they're moving these all out of production.. But why not replace them with a plastic model!?
Especially when the World Eaters have their Lord on Juggernaut and Lord Invictus!

World Eaters Lord on Juggernaut
World Eaters Lord Invictus
how hard would it be to modify this model above slightly to make it a fantasy bloodbound character...?
I'm guessing they'll replace it at SOME point... but the stats won't be in the Battletome!
One might wonder WHY I'm buying this older model when I KNOW it won't have a warscroll in the Battletome!? Because each of the Battletomes they've released for Fourth Edition has had an Anvil of Apotheosis section - which allows you to build your own characters and there are ususally options for having them mounted either on a horse or a monster - if you want to convert a general to be flying a wyvern or whatever... you can kind of do that! I don't think they're allowed for matched play (tournaments, etc) but they are fine for Paths to Glory, and that's what I'm getting ready for!!
New Blades of Khorne Battletome is out on Saturday!
That finecast looks stressful for sure. The Lord Invictus looks like he'd be a fun one to convert over to AOS - that rearing, leaping juggernaut with the chainsaw on his nose must be one of Khorne's proudest creations!
ReplyDeleteI had briefly considered picking up a Lord Invictus and just converting it... but after careful study of the model, decided there was enough differences between the 40K powered armour trooper and a fantasy heavy plate, that it would be too much of a pain in the ass, for me! I don't have the kind of patience that would be required at the moment! I want a new leader for my Khornate forces, and I want it NOW!? ha-ha!! thanks!
DeleteUnderstandable! Back when I was doing AoS in 2018-2019, I converted a 40K Ahriman figure to make a "Fatemaster of Tzeentch" for myself. A lot of the scifi armor was covered by robes so that simplified the process. Never ended up painting him though!
DeleteThat lord on Jugger is an amazing miniature, and I hope that the finecast treats you well.
ReplyDeleteThe mighty lord on foot is a fine miniature, but being push fit probably hinders it, and cartoon weapon does not help... if he had a better axe and a helmet he would be much better.
I've got it assembled and it went together pretty okay... there weren't actually any instructions, so I almost made a few whoopsies... and I'm not 100% sure it's put together properly... I just hope the resin juggernaut isn't smaller than all the plastic juggernauts... that would look lame.
DeleteThe problem with the Mighty Lord of Khorne is mostly the headgear... I bought the army assembled and partly painted, with no spare bits. I've I'd assembled it myself or had had some spare parts, I might have just given him a different head and it would have been better. Also the relatively small foot mini on a 50mm base looks off for me...
