However from the Osprey book it mentions that the Germans calls them "The Black Devils", so it is unclear if they wore all black or dark blue. It is amazing how hard it is to try and pinpoint the colours used. inreposehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01808052726738684756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9140646711960604590.post-22816921053035791022013-06-04T14:09:15.071-07:002013-06-04T14:09:15.071-07:00Thanks for the tips, Steve I will check them out! Thanks for the tips, Steve I will check them out!timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09928949644765765070noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9140646711960604590.post-7831551663688677572013-06-04T13:15:55.731-07:002013-06-04T13:15:55.731-07:00Good-looking unit.

As you said their uniforms are very napoleonic looking - their regular infantry were still wearing shakos! The Great War was truly the death knell of the colourful uniform.

(Unless, of course, you consider camouflage "colourful").

Speaking of camouflage.... These are SO MUCH QUICKER to paint than all the camouflage wearing modern troops I've been painting lately!timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09928949644765765070noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9140646711960604590.post-67508742596838934762013-06-04T10:54:52.809-07:002013-06-04T10:54:52.809-07:00Very nice work as always, Tim.
