Send in the Marines!

I traded away a bunch of plastic GW stuff to Nedoreth and the Teenage Visigoth and a pile of goodies arrived from the latter the other day – including some WW2 marines and Japanese and Diggers and Great War Tropical British… it was like Xmas… only waaaaaaaaay better! So of course I painted up the lot that would be the least use to me right now… THE MARINES!

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version)

These Jar-heads hail from Battle Honors. (I think… loose figures received in a trade…)

They’ll certainly see some action against my Japanese Infantry at some point. I got some more Japanese infantry in this lot… unfortunately the look like children next to the ones I already have… well… maybe more like scrawny teenagers… whatever… I ain’t fussy!

This SS flame-thrower guy is definitely from Battle Honors. They were in a Battle Honors package! He’ll be seeing some action on the East Front pretty soon. One of the players in my East Front Campaign was asking if he could have a flame-thrower. I said “no”… but it got me thinking… “Hmmmmmmm… Flame-throwers…”

Be careful what you wish for, because it might just show up in your game… on the OTHER side!! (MWA-HA-HA-Ha-Ha-ha-ha… ha… ha… ha..!).

Coming soon on Tim’s Miniature Wargaming Blog:

More Russians and Germans, Likely.

  1. NIce troops.

The player wanting the flame thrower might consider that the guy wearing the explosive backpack often has few friends.

    "Help, I've been hit!"

"Yeah, no way I'm going near that tank of inferno--medicate yourself pal!"

  2. Yeah, I considered letting him have one, but then saying every time you take a hit there's a 1 in 6 chance you go up in a fireball causing 4d6 damage to yourself and 3d6 damage to anyone within a medium burst template... oh, and everyone within that template is ON FIRE (causing more damage each turn until it is put out!)!

Flame throwers in Savage Worlds have pitifully short range. The only cool thing about them is that you ignore cover penalties... so they're potentially handy for clearing out troops in bunkers... if you can get close enough... and not much use for anything else... Which isn't too far off the mark as far as I'm concerned!

  5. I like your plane tree camo. Very simple This was my first attempt http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/6qmCD2TTMnAlZwi84YIjiA?feat=directlink (yes I know the lips make him look like a transexual).

The ironic thing is I showed him to the person who I was painting him for, who just happens to be colour blind. So he just sees three shades of brown :-)
