WW2 - Deutsches Afrikakorps

This is the last of the World War Two Deutsches Afrikakorps foot figues that I have to paint up! I've been trying to finish up all my forces for fighting in North Africa. Most of the previously pained miniatures in this collection were likely painted about 15 years ago, when I was playing a lot of Pulp Adventure games. Nazis in the Desert make great "bad guys".

Freshly painted World War Two Deutsches Afrikakorps

I do still have a Panzer IV F2 tank to finish up... and MAYBE the Sd.kfz 222 armoured car...? (I still have not decided if I should paint it in desert colours or regular grey for use in Europe in the early years of the war!?) But then that's it for things I HAVE...

All the painted World War Two Deutsches Afrikakorps - organized into four squads of six, a platoon headquarters, a forward observer, a heavy weapons platoon headquarters and a machine-gun and mortar team.

Alternatively could be fielded with three larger squads...? I'm not sure. I probably need to play a few games first...

I thought I might try to figure out how many points this is and what I could add to it to bring it up to 1000 or 1250 points... but I don't have the third edition rules yet. The only reason I've been able to do that for the French and Italians, is because their army lists are not included in the main rulebook and therefore are available to download for free from the Warlord Games website!

I'll probably need to get a few MORE things for it to be a playable force in Bolt Action (but for now it's lots for any FiveCore game!)

I also have a few Afrika-Korps-Adjacent figures - Assorted Nazis in the Desert... Not necessarily useful in Bolt Action, but very useful in Pulp Adventure games, which is what this force was started for in the first place!

  2. It's occurred to me that the armoured car pictured above is a Puma (Sd.Kfz. 234) and they were not available until after the desert war was over, so it will be shifting into my later war collection (and getting some greens and browns added to it to cam it up a bit) and therefore the Sd.Kfz 222 will be getting desert colours - as they, very definitely WERE used in the desert!
