Getting bit behind on the Blood Bowl game reports! I played a game on Thursday and another TODAY!!
Because of the game today, I VERY QUICKLY finished up my Goblin Bomma I hoped to add to the team for my next game!
#66 Fawkzy - Goblin Bomma
I'd thought of calling him Kazz (after Ted Kaczynski - the Una Bomber) or "Mad" Mac Vey (after Timothy McVey)... but then thought better of it and went with Fawkzy (after Guy Fawkes)... When you add a member to the team in TourPlay - the online league management we are using for the league - it automatically assigns a random name and number (which you can edit later) and the system named him CAZ!! I thought about going back to my original plan of calling him Kazz... but I'd already painted Fawksy on the base and I was already up too late, considering I was needing to get up early to get over to Dragon's Den Games for a 10:30 start!
At the same time I added another Goblin Lineman...
#13 Franky Sweatscab!
This one was not newly painted... I painted him 35 years ago. I did touch up the base and paint his name and number on the back... but that's it.
The team as it was at the beginning of the third game of the season against the Warman Hobbit Tossers. (I'm not sure if that's meant to mean they toss hobbits... or they are hobbits that are tossers...? Maybe a bit of Column A and a bit of Column B...?)
With the addition of the Bomma and another Lineman (and the return of #10 Leon Cankersore having recovered from his injury!), the team is up to fourteen players! I no longer have to start with everyone on the field (I can hold back some of the guys with secret weapons) AND I'll have extras for later in the game when inevitably some are lost (or sent off for possessing prohibited weapons!)
Also a few more gained enough Star Player Points to gain new skills. I decided to forego random skills and heretofore will only "level up" when I have enough to CHOOSE a skill...
#10 Ted "Wildboar" Grogan gained the Sure Feet skill
#Also3 Norg, the Trained Troll, gained the Strong Arm skill - which gives him a +1 when throwing teammates!

Great looking goblin additions!

Thanks Iain!
DeleteNice painting!
ReplyDeleteYeah, personally, I don't think I'd be comfortable using names of relatively recent people like those you mentioned. And by "recent" I guess I'd go as far back as WWII (at least I wouldn't use any Nazi names). But that's just me. No judgement.
Thanks!
DeleteFor me, I think it depends. I made an entire 40K Ork Kill team and all their names were plays on current Canadian conservative politicians (In the tradition of Games Workshop, who named Mega Boss Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka after Margaret Thatcher!). I'm sure I've used other names of villains of the present and past in games - usually using a name that's a play on the actual person's name...
So initially I thought of naming this git after someone who blew stuff up and Kaczynski and McVey immediately popped into my head... but... I don't know. There's just nothing funny there... and worse, someone might end up thinking I'm some kind of weird serial killer/mass murderer fanboy!!
Oh! I never caught onto the Thatcher connection. lol
