Game Plan 2025 - Q3

Half way through the year! It's time to take a moment and look back at the previous quarter and maybe do some planning (or guessing at) what I might do over the next few months!

Q2 in Review

Here's what I'd planned for Q2... and how it went...

(you can find the original post here: Game Plan 2025 - Q2)

Q2 GAMES

I played 18 games in the Second Quarter of 2025:

  • Warhammer Quest: Cursed City x10
  • Advanced Song of Blades and Heroes x5
  • Bolt Action: Third Edition x2
  • Warhammer 40,000 (Tenth Edition) x1

Below is a bit of a breakdown of what I'd planned and how it went.

Warhammer Quest

This had been going extremely well through the first quarter... I expected we would continue to play through the second... The only question was; Would we finish the game in the second quarter? Or would we STILL BE PLAYING!?  I had figured it would take a MINIMUM of seven more sessions to complete the initial campaign in Cursed City (but it seemed more likely to take eleven or more).

In the end we played almost weekly and got in TEN games of Warhammer Quest: Cursed City this quarter. We will definitely finish off the initial campaign in the next few weeks or so! Woo!

Role-Playing Games

I had wondered if we might get the in-person Soulbound game going again...

We did not...

I did, however start a NEW campaign on Tuesday evenings... The Campaign for Ravensflight - initially the plans were to use Five Leagues from the Borderlands for the campaign system and Advanced Song of Blades and Heroes for playing out the tabletop skrimishes... in the end I dropped the idea of the using Five Leagues from the Borderlands and just made up my own scenarios that narratively followed on from the previous one... it was kind of more of a "role-playing lite" series of linked skimish adventures... but was fun!

After only five sessions, the leader of the expedition died along with Finnegan's main character (the wizard! after he'd already lost one of his characters in the first encounter!?) and we had considered a hard reboot of the campaign and made up some new characters but then got busy doing other things. It was a lot of fun! I would love to get something like that (or some other role-playing game!) going at some point. I'd initially thought when we're done Warhammer Quest: Cursed City... But my interests seem to be shifting elsewhere.

World War Two - Bolt Action, etc...

I thought FOR SURE I would be playing a LOT of Bolt Action through the Second Quarter. I wasn't so sure we'd keep playing Five Men at Kursk or Five Men in Normandy, but didn't rule out OTHER games!

Previously we'd be mostly playing games set in North Africa - and a few smaller ones in the Pacific Theatre of Operations (partly due to availability of mats to play on!). As Orion was ordering a Hungarian army, I expected focus to shift to the Eastern Front as well!

I ended up playing Only playing ONE GAME in April (which I never even got around to posting a game report for), and NONE in May, and then only ONE MORE game  in June!?

Other Warhammer Games - Age of Sigmar/Underworlds/40K

I hadn't written all of these off entirely... I mean, I WAS still playing Warhammer Quest, so some part of my brain was still interested in the Age of Sigmar setting...

I DID get in one game of 40K and even before that I had also hoped I might get to painting a few more Eldar..?  or maybe a few of the Emperor's Children...? Possibly pick up the new Astra Militarum codex and reorg all those armies to be ready for action...?

At the beginning of May, Orion travelled to Calgary to play in the  - a World Championship of Warhammer qualifier event with two or three Golden Tickets up for grabs! She did not win one of those, but came back feeling inspired to play Warhammer Quest again!! But I didn't end up playing a single game...

With the release of the new setting for Spearhead, I even got thinking about playing that again! So far, I have not...

Board Games

I was really feeling that I was missing playing a lot of the board games we'd played in the past... and hoped to play more... but realistically I wasn't sure if I'd have the time or energy to organize and play regular board games... AND play Warhammer Quest every week... AND play Bolt Action (or other miniatures games)... AND write up game reports... AND paint new miniatures for Bolt Action (or other miniatures games)... AND possibly organize and run a role-playing game...

Though we had talked about playing Terraforming Mars a few times, in the end we played no board games this quarter...

Solo Miniature Games

At the beginning of the quarter I was still feeling it would be fun to continue the current solo games...

Paras in Normandy

Pulp Adventure

Five Parsecs from Home

and still hoped I'd get around to trying out Devilry Afoote...

But as with board games... What little time I ended up playing games, I was actually playing games WITH people, so found it hard to fit in some additional solo games on the side!

Q2 MINIATURES

Ooof! I did NOT get nearly as much done this past Quarter. In the first Quarter I managed to paint 199 x 28mm foot figures, four mounted and TEN tanks and other vehicles... This quarter I painted less than a third of that!

It was clear at the beginning of the quarter that my focus was mainly ONE thing...

World War Two - Bolt Action

This seemed to be where things were mostly focused for the forseeable future. I had been working on forces for the desert war in North Africa and the Pacific.

I'd acquired a BUNCH of tanks to play in the sand and hoped that would be the primary focus for the Second Quarter.

What I did end up assembling and painting was...

But during this period I pick up another 55 WW2 infantry and four more vehicles!?

Warhammer Games

Age of Sigmar/Underworlds/40K/Cursed City/Soulbound

I did finish Torgilius the Chamberlain - the only mini I needed to finish for Warhammer Quest: Cursed City! (other than two Mysterious Object markers!)

I'd planned to get started on the last few things I need for Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - Night Wars... the Fell Bats and Radukar the Beast!? I did BUY Radukar the Beast and I've had the Fell Bats assembled and primed for a while... but I did not get them painted

I'd hoped perhaps that painting stuff for Night Wars might be expanded again into larger Age of Sigmar forces...? Maybe paint up some of the other Soulblight Gravelords when I work on these few things...?  That hasn't happened, so far.. .

If we'd gotten Soulbound going again, I'd hoped that might get me working on some of the Chaos foes that could be encountered - primarily the Disciples of Tzeentch, but also Skaven and Slaves to Darkness... alas...

I DID start working on the Emperor's Children - reorganizing some of the things I already have and assembling and priming the Champions of Slaanesh I bought at the end of the First Quarter

I did rebase 18 Noise Marines onto 40mm bases (as that's what they're on now!?) and I did paint up two new Noise Marines to finish up one unit. I have another four to finish up to complete the other two units. I also finished up an odd Possessed Heretic Astartes!

Unfortunately I also picked up a Chaos Daemons Combat Patrol box and Radukar the Beast, which has kind of put me back in the red to end this Quarter.

Other Games

I did acknowledge that there was always the possibility that I could decide I needed to paint stuff for something else entirely... Thinking the most likely possibilities would be for the Solo games - Sci-fi stuff for Five Parsecs from Home or Pulp Adventure stuff....

In the end I painted a few things for the new role-playing/skirmish campaign

and some random Mutant Plants...

Painting progress and game playing dropped significantly over the second Quarter. Part of it was because it's spring and other things were going on... part of it was... "family drama", I guess you could call it... that put a LOT of things on hold.

so... for the next three months...

GAME PLAN 2025 - Q3

What to do in the Third Quarter...?

I feel like interests are shifting and Warhammer 40,000 might return to be a focus for the Third Quarter!?

GAMES

I will probably play some games... likely continuing what I've been doing for the last quarter/year so far... with some slight shifts...

Warhammer Quest

It has been a lot of fun playing this with Amanda and Finnegan! In the Third Quarter we will definitely finish off the initial quest in Warhammer Quest: Cursed City and then likely move on to working our way through Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - NIGHT WARS!

I haven't even opened the Night Wars box, let alone read any of the content, so I have NO IDEA how long that will take... I imagine it won't take 30 missions like the first quest did, and could possibly be finished up over the summer (by the end of Q3)!

After that...?

I really like this format of play and Amanda, Finnegan and I have been having a lot of fun playing through the campaign. We have a few options to continue on...

There is still Silver Tower we have not played through. I still have to finish a numbe r of minatures for that one, but that could likely be finished by the time we're done Night Wars...

There is also Blackstone Fortress! Amanda and I played through the initial campaign back in 2020/2021 and carried on playing some of the adventures in the Annual and the Dreaded Ambul campaign. I still have the Ascension, Deadly Alliance, No Respite, Traitor Command, and Escalation expansions to play through!!

OR we could maybe take a break and focus on... Role-Playing...?

I have a feeling, if we finish Night Wars before the end of the Quarter, we might return to Blackstone Fortress! I checked with Finnegan and Amanda and both seem interested in that.

Role-Playing Games

As mentioned above I had a lot of fun playing that rpg-lite skirmish adventure campaign and I'd like to revisit that (or SOME kind of role-playing game!) But I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get that going on while still playing Warhammer Quest (and other games!).

With a renewed interest in Warhammer 40,000 my thoughts have returned to Wrath & Glory and the possibility of starting up a campaign (or two!?) either online or in-person (or BOTH!?)... I've suggested maybe I could run a few one-shot adventures for players to try out different archetypes and Tiers over the summer and then maybe in the fall get an ongoing campaign going.

World War Two - Bolt Action

Despite the slow down in games and painting in the Second Quarter, I do hope things will pick up again in the next quarter. I have an idea for a skirmish campaign involving some of Orion's Hungarians - when she gets enough done - and then I imagine there will be a lot of campaigning on the Eastern Front with them!

Warhamer 40,000

At the tail end of the Second Quarter the 40K bug caught me again and I've been busily working on Emperor's Children and assorted other stuff, while listening to 40K audio books. I got in one game (with my Aeldari, versus Orions Space wolves...). Despite that disaster, it's got me thinking about 40K again.

I'm not sure exactly where that's going to take me this quarter. I do not love matched play.... so I picked up the most recent Crusade book (for playing narrative campaigns) and am hoping we might get to play though - or at least start - a campaign over the summer. I want to finish up enough of the Emperor's Children to play with them! Amanda said she might be willing to play some games, so I might need to figure out a force for her.

I could also see giving Combat Patrol a try...? It's a smaller game similar to Age of Sigmar Spearhead.

Other Warhammer Games - Age of Sigmar/Underworlds/Soulbound/etc.

I STILL haven't written all of these off entirely... I mean, I'm STILL playing Warhammer Quest, so some part of my brain is still interested in the Age of Sigmar setting at least somewhat!?

Some people on the discord were talking about playing Spearhead again - and I could see trying to get in a game or two.

I feel completely out of the loop with what's going on with Warhammer Underworlds these days... There have been a few new decks released and I have not picked them up...

Board Games

WOW! I have missed playing board games... but with all the other games going on each week - each requiring some prep beforehand and a game report after... I'm not sure I'll have the TIME to play any board games...

Solo Miniature Games

It would be fun to continue the current solo games...

I's also still LOVE to try out Devilry Afoote Campaign I got all set up for...

AND I continue to have SO MANY IDEAS about other campaigns I could play...

I'll just keep those in my back pocket for now, in case any of the current active in-person campaigns Im actually playing with others fizzle...

MINIATURES

What will I get up to PAINTING the next few months...?

As always, it will be likely dictated by the games I end up playing. As outlined above that will probably be Warhammer 40,000, Bolt Action, and Warhammer Quest... and possibly Age of Sigmar...?

World War Two - Bolt Action

I could spend the rest of the year just painting World War Two stuff for Bolt Action (or... any WW2 game...) and not run out of stuff... If I COULD I'd like to finish up the following...

  • 4x  Matilda II
  • 5x  Cruiser Mk1 (A9)
  • 2x  Italian M14/41 tank
  • Italian Colonial Troops (10)
  • Italian Breda AA gun
  • 8th Army 6 pounder and crew
  • Gebirgsjager Squad (10)
  • 1940 French Army Casualties and weapons teams (10)
  • ~50x Fallschirmjager
  • 2x  Panzer IV
  • 2x Panther
  • Japanese Army Chi Ha tank
  • 3x DAK Panzer III
  • DAK Howitzer and crew
  • DAK AT gun
  • DAK Sdkfz 222 Armoured Car
  • DAKPanzer IV
  • 2x Stug III

Not sure how much (or ANY) of this is going to happen... but we can dream. I guess it will depend on how much Orion wants to play later in the summer and fall. Playing always motivates painting!!

Warhammer 40,000

I like the idea of trying out Combat Patrol - the smaller skirmishy version of 40K - very similar to Age of Sigmar: Spearhead. But they are fixed forces and I don't have the exact units required to field ANY of them... and I am loathe to BUY any more stuff at this point.

I did end up buying a Chaos Daemons Combat Patrol last week... Partly to have a force I could try out Combat Patrol with... but also because there are rules for unbound wandering Daemons in the Armageddon Crusade campaign... and also they could be used in my Age of Sigmar Blades of Khorne army... AND, most importantly, the force is being discontinued and I wanted to get one before they all disappeared!

In the last week I've gotten them all based and assembled and primed and hopefully within the week I'll be able to finish them all off!!

Other than that, I think the primary focus for this will be getting some Emperor's Children painted - enough to field a 1000 point Crusade Force for campaining on Armageddon.

I MAY also end up breaking down and getting the Emperor's Children Combat Patrol, if I can find anyone else that's even remotely interested in playing. As with most boxed sets, it's way cheaper to buy the box than the individual units. The units in the box that I'd need (2 units of Flawless Blades) individually would cost $140... the Combat Patrol is $200 (which would give me two more units worth $135 - Lord Exultant and Infractors - which I could always do with more of...)

Regardless... I already have loads of Emperor's Children to paint!

Currrently to paint:

  • Lord Exultant
  • 20 Tormentors
  • 20 Infractors
  • 10 Chaos Terminators
This, with the stuff I already have, would get me to about 1660 points - plenty of options for a starting Crusade force. Picking up the Combat Patrol would put me well over 2000. IF I picked up the Combat Patrol, that would add:

  • ANOTHER Lord Exultant
  • 10 MORE Infrators
  • 6 Flawless Blades

I think I have to make myself a deal that I have to finish at least the Lord Exultant that I already have, one unit of Infractors and one unit of Tormentors before I can reasonably buy myself an Emperor's Children Combat Patrol...

To put together a 1000 point force of Ynnari for Amanda I need to paint

  • Yvraine
  • Ynnari Archon
  • 5-10 Ynnari Kabalite Warriors
  • Ynnari Succubus

To expand the force, I have more Ynnari Reavers and Wyches and a Venom and other members of the Triumvirate of the Ynnead that I could paint...

Warhammer Quest

I will definitely be painting up Radukar the Beast and the Fell Bats needed for Cursed City: Night Wars.

After that...? I guess it depends which game we play next.

There are Grot Skuttlings, a couple Skaven, a few Familiars, the Gaunt Summoner, and two of the heroes I'd need to finish up to play Silver Tower.

For Blackstone Fortress there are miniatures for all the expansion campaigns I have that would need painting...

Other Warhammer Games

I still have other Warhammer Games in the back of my mind...  I COULD see myself knocking out the rest of the stuff needed for a Soulblight Gravelords Spearhead army... (or maybe the Stormcast Eternals...?) -

The Khorne Daemons from the Chaos Daemons Combat Patrol are all useable in Age of Sigmar...

Other Games

Song of Blades and Heroes...?

other Ganesha Games...?

All the Solo games...?

If I got playing these again, I could end up painting stuff for them... buuuuuuut... realistically, I don't see that happening this Quarter!

Crusades, Daemons and a Stug

Over the last week, one thing arrived in the mail and I picked up a few things at my FLGS (Dragon's Den Games in Saskatoon!)

Last week, I picked up the 40K Crusade: Armageddon book. I've had a hankering to play 40K again, and I do prefer playing campaigns - or at least games with some sort of narrative - so I thought I'd try out the latest Crusade Campaign book from Games Workshop.

I'd gone to the store not entirely sure which one I'd pick up, as there have been two released so far this year - Nachmund Gauntlet and Armageddon. I didn't really look into either before I went to the store, which, in retrospect, probably wasn't the best plan... but here we are.

I was a little familiar with Armageddon. I mean, the tales of the wars on Armageddon have been part of the narrative of 40K for decades. I mean, it was the skirmish game Shadow War: Armageddon, that seriously got me collecting and painting 40K miniatures again - and even then, Armageddon had been in the narrative a long time.

I ended up picking up the Armageddon book because it was the only one of the two they had in stock (though they did still have the Tyrannic War and Pariah Nexus books, I passed on those, largely because I'd had it in my head I was going there for Nachmund Gauntlet or Armageddon... and the Tyrannic War and Pariah Nexus were not Nachmund Gauntlet or Armageddon... so...)

(again, this is where checking things out to see what was available and maybe reading some of the articles on the Warhammer Community website to see what those different campaigns are all about might have been prudent... but here we are).

So the BIG THING going on at Armageddon these days is massive rift gates opening up and daemons spilling onto the planet from the warp.... and a full-scale invastion by the World Eaters (worshipers of Khorne, the blood god)...

Ultimately EVERYONE shows up for these things (or there are ways you can work whatever force you have into the narrative and play. Space Wolves are actually mentioned to have a significant presence on Armageddon... Emperor's Children...? Not so much... but hey they could just show up to sow discord and confusion and take a few shots at both the Imperial forces AND the World Eaters!

It's kind of fun, there are scenarios where there are wandering unbound generic daemons wandering around the battlefield!

Which reminded me of the Chaos Daemons Combat Patrol... I'd been thinking of picking it up last year - to add to the Blades of Khorne forces (because, it's just such a ridiculous good deal...) AND I'd been thinking it might be fun to try out Combat Patrol - smaller skirmishy version of 40K with set army lists (similar to Spearhead for Age of Sigmar) but, of all the 40K forces I have stuff for, I could not fill out a single Combat Patrol!? I'd need to buy at least two units to fill out a combat patrol... for the Daemons, those two units would cost $125 CAD... the whole damed combat patrol is only $200... and contains stuff currently worth $325 - if it was all bought separately...

Anyway, Armageddon got me thinking about that again... but when I went to check the Warhammer website, it had been removed!! the manager at the local Warhammer Store said they did have one or two in stock, but they were to be removed from the shelves soon and ultimately sent back (but that might not be for a while) checking around, I found a lot of the online stores I've bought stuff from were sold out of them... and then I happened to be in the Dragon's Den for Free RPG Day  and noticed they had one in stock... I didn't buy it right then and there... I thought about it over the weekend and went back Monday and picked it up... and the Wrath & Glory - Threat Assessment: Heretics and Daemons book, which I'd also seen they had in stock!

And when I got home from the Dragon's Den I saw a package had arrived for me containing the Stug... which I'd ordered over a month ago and almost entirely FORGOTTEN that I'd even ordered!?

So now I'm trying to finish up priming and prepping all those Drukhari and Corsairs... so I can put them into temporary storage so I can assemble and paint all these DAEMONS!! Largely because I know that they will be SUPER FAST to paint and it's nice having stuff DONE!

(also, the quarter is almost done and the numbers are looking really low! Ha!)

(this HAS... TEMPORARILY... put me back in the red - having purchased MORE than I've painted so far this year...!?)

40L/AoS - Servants of Slaanesh

I created a new gallery/page for all of my Servants of Slaanesh models - for both Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. The immanent new edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar has got me thinking about playing the game again. Which got me thinking about this force and considering what I'd need to finish up to ready it to play at different levels: Vanguard (600 points), Warband (1000 points), Brigade (1500 points), Legion(2000 points)

If you're looking at this blog on a web browser, you can find it listed amongst the Pages over on the left side of the page. I'm not sure how to find it on a phone... Regardless, you can also just click on this link:

40k/AoS - Servants of Slaanesh

There are most pictures of the painted stuff... and pictures of the still to be painted and/or assembled. The plan is to update it as I finish up models - which will be added into the mix of things I'm working on this summer...

ALL THE THINGS - painted and unpainted/unassembled!

There is some background on why I thought it was a good idea to build a Slaanesh army. There's also some discussion of potential forces that could be fielded with both the stuff I currently have painted (for both Warhammer 40,000 and Warahmmer: Age of Sigmar) and what I could POTENTIALLY field, should WHEN I get around to painting them all!?

There is even some discussion of what I might (*cough*) ADD to the forces...

(honestly, it's not all that much...)

Of course all this organizing and contemplating has ended with me moving boxes of Slaanesh models into the room with my painting desk - but I haven't put any of them ON the desk, yet! I do want to finish up a few of the things on there BEFORE I get totally distracted with cranking out Daemonettes and Seekers and such!

(like the Kairic Acolytes! They are SO CLOSE to being finished?!)

40K - Harlequins - Troupe of the Eternal Lament

I decided, with the new Aeldari Codex including the rules for Harlequins, it might be time to expand the Dance of the Midnight Effusion Kill Team into a full 40K Patrol Detachment - or even a Battalion!? Also, the new White Dwarf (#474) includes revised rules for Harlequin Kill Teams, so that required some reorganization.

40K

The Current Troupe - Troupe of the Eternal Lament

(The Dance of the Midnight Effusion was the name of the Kill Team - which amounts to a single Troupe of Players. So I thought I'd keep that name for the Troupe of Players and say they are part of the larger Troupe of the Eternal Lament).

So far, all I've done is re-base miniatures I already had. These are harlequins from the original box set that I bought back in the late 80s. I rebased all of the Character models onto 32mm bases - to differentiate them from the Harlequins of the Troupe dancers.

Troupe Leader - Dwol'yyk'faldyl'ven'yaksak'de - the Master of Ceremonies - armed with .Shuriken Pistol and Aeldari Power Sword. AS with most of the Character Models in the force, The MAster of Ceremonies will likely be given a Pivotal Role, but I haven't selected one yet.

Shadowseer - Vylindal'min'zyl'fadyll'wenyl - Vision of the Dark - Shuriken Pistol, Mistave, Hallucinogen Grenader Launcher (This is the biggest "counts as" - as none of the weapons this model is carrying really matches what the current Shadowseer is supposed to be carrying... Ah, well, I probably won't EVER be playing competatively with these, so hopefully no one will care!)

(Actually, I think this is currently the ONLY "Counts As" - I do have a lot of unpainted harlequins carrying odd weapons - laspistols, WEBBERS, etc!? - Any of those with weird things, I'll just call Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Blade - the Standard Gear)

Solitaire - Klin'fylindil'myrsutyl'zenob - The Lonely Loner - Solitaire's Weapons

Fun thing about the 9E Codex - Solitaires in the previous edition were armed entirely differently than this original Solitaire and so it would have been odd fielding this one, clearly armed with Harlequin’s Kiss and  a Neuro Disruptor when the standard-no-options-loadout was Harlequin’s Kiss and Harlequin’s Caress. But in THIS edition, the standard loadout with no options is "Solitaire's Weapons". I wish MORE troops has more generic sounding weapons listed....

Death Jesters - these are all independent Character models (i.e. each is a separate Unit), from left to right:

  • Mal'wynairfel'Zenvodnyl -- Harvester of Sorrow - Shrieker Cannon, Jesters Blade
  • Reafryln'adyl'prybt - Fearless Reaper - Shrieker Cannon, Jesters Blade
  • Brakyl'dylil'narfatess - Remorseless Scythe - Shrieker Cannon, Jesters Blade

Troupe - Dance of the Midnight Effusion

  • Wilk'nes'fyl'ori'nos'del'ven - The Bard - Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Blade
  • Me'del'wik'felyk'pard'trum - The Merchant -  Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Embrace
  • Wilk'nes'fyl'ori'nos'del'ven - The Bard  - Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Blade
  • El'wisq'vi'gwith'nel'nor - The Queen - Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Blade
  • Dar'lyk'vel'fro'dow'nyel'zen - The Witch -  Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Blade
  • Vok'no'fel'pred'zyl'wen - The Prince -  Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Blade
  • Mya'den'freg'lad'zyp - The Maid -  Fusion Pistol and Harlequin's Kiss

For now, I can currently field them as a Patrol Detachment:

HQ (1-2)

  • Troupe Master (1) - Shuriken Pistol, Aeldari Power Sword, Plasma Grenades - 4 Power
  • Shadowseer (1) - Shuriken Pistol, Mistave, Hallucinogen Grenader Launcher - 5 Power

Troops (1-2)

  • Troupe (6) - Assorted Weapons - 4 Power

Elites (0-2)

  • Death Jester (1) - Shrieker Cannon, Jesters Blade - 3 Power
  • Solitaire (1) - Solitaire's Weapons - 6 Power

This is only 22 Power, but any of the character models can be given a Pivotal Role - which gives them an additional special rule (that only ONE can take in an entire force) for one extra Power Rating. So I can make it a 25PL Detachment by making three of them Pivotal Role characters.

I do have enough minis to make three more Troupes, which would mean I could field them as a battalion detachment, if ever I got around to PAINTING them!?

If I had the additional 18 minis painted to make 2-4 more Troupes, they could be fielded as a 40 Power Battalion Detachment:

HQ (2-3)

  • Troupe Master (1) - Shuriken Pistol, Aeldari Power Sword, Plasma Grenades - 4 Power
  • Shadowseer (1) - Shuriken Pistol, Mistave, Hallucinogen Grenader Launcher - 5 Power

Troops (3-6)

  • Troupe (6) - Assorted Weapons - 4 Power
  • Troupe (6) - Assorted Weapons - 4 Power
  • Troupe (6) - Assorted Weapons - 4 Power
  • Troupe (6) - Assorted Weapons - 4 Power

Elites (0-6)

  • Death Jester (1) - Shrieker Cannon, Jesters Blade - 3 Power
  • Death Jester (1) - Shrieker Cannon, Jesters Blade - 3 Power
  • Death Jester (1) - Shrieker Cannon, Jesters Blade - 3 Power
  • Solitaire (1) - Solitaire's Weapons - 6 Power
Again, Pivotal Roles could be given to six of them for a total of 46 Power... I guess I need ONE more group of 6 Troupe Players to make 50 Power... (I should probably worry about painting THE ONES I HAVE before seeking out any new ones, though...)

KILL TEAM

The most recent White Dwarf included new Kill Team rules for Harlequins! So far I have only glanced at the Kill Team organization rules. So, the Dance of the Midnight Effusion Kill Team has been reorganized as follows

  • Wilk'nes'fyl'ori'nos'del'ven - The Bard - Lead Player -  Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Blade
  • Me'del'wik'felyk'pard'trum - The Merchant - Player -   Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Embrace
  • Wilk'nes'fyl'ori'nos'del'ven - The Bard  - Player -  Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Blade
  • El'wisq'vi'gwith'nel'nor - The Queen - Player -  Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Blade
  • Dar'lyk'vel'fro'dow'nyel'zen - The Witch - Player -   Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Blade
  • Vok'no'fel'pred'zyl'wen - The Prince - Player -   Shuriken Pistol and Harlequin's Blade
  • Mya'den'freg'lad'zyp - The Maid -  Player - Fusion Pistol and Harlequin's Kiss
  • Vylindal'min'zyl'fadyll'wenyl - Vision of the Dark - Shadowseer - Shuriken Pistol, Mistave, Hallucinogen Grenader Launcher
  • Mal'wynairfel'Zenvodnyl - Harveter of Sorrow - Death Jester - Shrieker Cannon, Jesters Blade

Next Up? I have units of Howling Banshees and Guardian Defenders on the workbench (along with a hundred other things - but the Howling Banshees and Guardian Defenders are closest to the front and most likely to be worked on...) that I only need to finish 2-3 minitures for to complete units - and then have a complete Aeldari Force that's useable with the new Aeldari Codex

40K - New Aeldari Codex

Well I did pick up the new Aeldari Codex Saturday... I've really only had the briefest of looks through it.

(TL/DR: Eldar being reorganized, stay tuned for pictures later this week, maybe)

There are things I like about it, so far.

Others... well...

I DO like that the Assuryani and Harlequins and Ynarri and Corsairs are all included in this book. And it looks like there is lots of cool new stuff for narrative Cursade Campaigns.

There have been some changes to the troop types, however, that are going to throw a BIG OL' SPACE WRENCH into my traditional force composition!?

A LOT of my troops have suddenly become "Elites" in the new codex. I now have a FEW TOO MANY Elites and not enough Headquarters... or... other stuff... Are least not to field proper core detachments (the ones that refund you the Command Cost of the detachment if your warlord is included in it)...

Warlocks went from being Headquarters to Elites...

Dire Avengers went from being TROOPS to being Elites...?

Wraithlords went from being HEAVY SUPPORT to being Elites!?

Ugh... it's the 8th Edition Astra Militarum Codex all over again. (or was it 7th when the basic Troop element went from being an entire PLATOON to a single infantry squad and EVERYTHING ELSE in the platoon became separate Elite elements!?)

So... for headquarters... you can now have Farseers.. Autarchs... the GIANT FREAKING AVATAR OF KHAINE... and Phoenix Lords.... In the fluff, these are all commanders of entire ARMIES!?

If you want a small, up-to-platoon-sized Patrol Detachment, it's going to be a Farseer, Autarch or PHOENIX LORD leading it!?

If you're wanting to field something between a platoon and company sized force (a "Battalion" detachment), you're going to need at least TWO of them.

If you want a full-sized/reinforced Company sized force ("BRIGADE" Detachment) you will need at least three!?

They really seem to want to turn the game into HIGH POWERED HEROES leading around a small host of... other things... and it'll probably come down to a throw-down between those heroes...?

All we need is CHALLENGES to return. Remember those? Maybe it wasn't a thing in 40K, but I'm pretty sure it was a thing in Warhammer Fantasy where your general could issue a challenge to the opposing general, if they were within a certain distance and the whole battle would stop and the two would fight their own little duel and the winners army would gain a huge morale boost and the losers army would melt away... and if you didn't accept the challenge, pretty much the same thing happened anyway...? Was that Warhammer Fantasy? Am I thinking of something else...?

I digress...

Then there are the Dire Avengers. Aspect Warriors are the Professional Warriors of the Craftworlds, and Dire Avengers are the bog-standard, Shurican-Catapult-armed-shooty-bang-bang, foot soldier of the Aspect Warriors. These used to be TROOPS. They made up the core of the warfighting professionals. Well now they are ALSO ELITES...

Troops now have to be made up of Guardians (either Guardian Defenders or Storm Guardians), Rangers or Corsairs. Guardians have been, for the last few editions, just citizens of the craftworlds, that have taken up arms in dire times - usually to defend the craftworld itself!? Rangers are outcasts that technically don't even belong to a Craftworld anymore, wanderers, doing their own thing, but are sometimes called upon to show up on a battlefield if they happen to be in the area or have some specific knowledge and are leading the rest of the army to an objective...

And then there are the Corsairs - Pirates, that are DEFINITELY NOT part of a craftworld (can can't even be used to fulfill the basic troops requirement, so it's really just Defenders and Rangers...)

Finally Wraithlords... These three hard-hitting, muthafukkin' wriathbone constructs powered by souls of dead Eldar, pretty much WERE my Heavy Support (along with a single unit of three Dark Reapers) now they are Elites... and each has to be fielded as a separate until

So...

I went from having 4-6 units of elites (once all the minis I have are painted), depending on whether two options are fielded as two units of five or a single ten  (all being easily fit into a Battalion or Brigade Detachment). Now I will have 10-18 units when everything is painted (again, depending on whether units are fielded as multiple units of less than maximum size or a smaller number of units at their maximum size. EVEN IF they were fielded at MAXIMUM SIZE, I have TOO MANY for even a BRIGADE Detachement (the largest Core Detachment) and no longer have enough Heavy Support options to field a Brigade...

I know... I know... WHO CARES!? I could just play Open War games with forces designed around scenarios and completely ignoring "battle-forged" force compositions...

I do like the idea of being able to field a force that actually conforms to the current rules (but that also fits a narrative and "makes sense" fluff-wise) - just in case I actually played against... someone else outside of my home... or in a league... or if I went to a tournament again someday...

I'm not crying or making any sort of claim that GW is just doing it to fuck over the older players and making us buy more toys... I can even kind of understand why they made some of those changes. Some having to do with changing fluff as the narrative of the 41st millenium continues to develop... Some having to do with aesthetics and style of play... Its just annoying to have to try and make the shift... I'm NOT going to have to run out any buy ANYTHING new... I just won't be using some units as much as I might have... and other units I thought would only be used in scenarios, if it fit the narrative, are now going to be staples in the army (Guardians).

So given the current situation, what CAN I do...

Here's what I have painted (or... very nearly painted!):

  • Farseer x1 - Headquarters
  • Guardian Defenders x10 (one unit of 10 with weapons platform) - Troops
  • Rangers x15 (2-3 units of 5-10) - Troops
  • Warlock Conclave x2 (one conclave of two) - Elites
  • Dire Avengers x20 (2-4 units of 5-10) - Elites
  • Howling Banshees x10 (1-2 units of 5 or 10) - Elites
  • Wraithguard x5 (one unit) - Elites
  • Wraithlords x 3 (3 individual units) - Elites
  • Warp Spiders x10 (1-2 units of 5-10)
  • Dark Reapers x4 (one unit - need one more to make COMPLETE unit of 5) - Heavy Support

This totals about 96 Power Level. With this what can I field...? A Patrol Detachment! (like the 25-Power Level Biel-Tymm Patrol Detachment I put together last September to potentially start a .. but with a bit of a different make up)

A Patrol Detachment includes

  • 1-2 Headquarters
  • 1-3 Troops
  • 0-2 Elites
  • 0-2 Fast Attack
  • 0-2 Heavy Support
  • 0-2 Flyers
  • (up to one dedicated Transport for each Infantry unit taken)
So, I can't even put together the same Patrol, as THREE of the units in that detachment are now Elites (Warlocks, Dire Avengers, Wraithlord) and a Patrol Detachment limits Elites to two... In addition to that, the Power Ratings of a few of the units have increased and it would now be a 27 Power Level force...

The Farseer will now be my only Headquarters.

Currently, Rangers will fill the Troops requirement - 1-3 units of 5 or 10 - They've increased from a Power Rating of 3 per five rangers to 4. I COULD include the Guardians... but I feel like a Combat Patrol, lead by a Farseer, should be made up of professional warriors, not cooks and poets and janitors pressed into service as "Guardians"

A maximum of two Elites could be chosen from Dire Avengers or Howling Banshees or Wraith Guard or Wraithlords (though the Wraithlord has also increased in Power Rating)...

Warp Spiders could be taken as a Fast Attack Option

Dark Reapers could be taken as Heavy Support... but the unit is now understrength so I probably won't be taking them at all for a while until I can source one more...

A few options for 25 Power Level Combat Patrols:

  • Farseer (1) - Headquarters - PR 5
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Warlocks (2) - Elites - PR 3
  • Warp Spiders (5) - PR5
or
  • Farseer (1) - Headquarters - PR 5
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Dire Avengers (10) - Elites - PR6
  • Wraithguard (5) - Elites - PR10
or
  • Farseer (1) - Headquarters - PR 5
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Warlocks (2) - Elites - PR 3
  • Wraithlord (1) - Elites - PR8
  • Warp Spiders (5) - PR5
or
  • Farseer (1) - Headquarters - PR 5
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Wraithlord (1) - Elites - PR8
  • Wraithlord (1) - Elites - PR8
or
  • Farseer (1) - Headquarters - PR 5
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Howling Banshees (10) - Elites - PR8
  • Wraithlord (1) - Elites - PR8
(Technically, I can field THREE Warlocks for PR3, so I could paint up a third to include with the two indicated in two of the options above...)

I like the first option, as it's basically the Ranger Element of Maesenir's Rangers Kill Team, with a Farseer, Warlocks and a handful of Warpsider. Narratively, it could be seen as Maesenir finding something needing to be dealt with and calling upon the Biel-Tymm Fleet for a little bit of back-up and Farseer Thymiltelyir shows up with his Warlock entourage and a rapid reaction team of Warp Spiders... Yeah. I think that might be the one I use...

To field ANY larger force, I would now have to finish up the other Farseer that I have (and/or the model I'm hoping I can pass off an Autarch). With that, however, I could instantly field a Battalion Detachment, which increases the number of Elites I can field to six... which, could be MOST of the ones I currently have painted... but not all. Even fielded at their maximum sizes, I'd have EIGHT Elite units: Warlocks (2), 2x Dire Avengers (10), 1x Howling Banshees (10), 1x Wraith Guard (5), 3x Wraithlords (1)

Incursion Level (Power Level 50) Battalions could look like:

  • Farseer (1) - Headquarters - PR 5
  • Farseer (1) - Headquarters - PR 5
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Warlock (1) - Elites - PR 2
  • Wraithguard (5) - Elites - PR10
  • Wraithlord (1) - Elites - PR8
  • Wraithlord (1) - Elites - PR8
or
  • Farseer (1) - Headquarters - PR 5
  • Farseer (1) - Headquarters - PR 5
  • Guardian Defenders (10 + Weapons Platform) - Troops - PR5
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Rangers (5) - Troops - PR4
  • Warlocks (2) - Elites - PR 3
  • Dire Avengers (10) - Elites - PR6
  • Dire Avengers (10) - Elites - PR6
  • Howling Banshees (10) - Elites - PR8
STRIKE FORCE (Power Level 100) would require deciding which Elites to take, which to leave behind, and require a few more NOT-ELITE units to be finished up... but could look like...
  • Farseer (1) - Headquarters - PR 5
  • Farseer (1) - Headquarters - PR 5
  • Guardian Defenders (10 + Weapons Platform) - Troops - PR5
  • Rangers (10) - Troops - PR8
  • Rangers (10) - Troops - PR8
  • Rangers (10) - Troops - PR8
  • Warlocks (5) - Elites - PR 5
  • Howling Banshees (10) - Elites - PR8
  • Wraithguard (5) - Elites - PR10
  • Wraithlord (1) - Elites - PR8
  • Wraithlord (1) - Elites - PR8
  • Warp Spiders (10) - PR10
  • Swooping Hawks (5) - PR4
(This would require painting 15 Rangers, 3 Warlocks, 5 Swooping Hawks)

(Y'know, instead of just using the Dire Avengers and a third Wraithlord That i COULD have in the previous edition...)

The Rangers above COULD also be fielded four units of five and one unit of ten

I COULD have fielded a Brigade Detachment in the past - once everything was painted (or even just a few more units were painted) but now I'm going to have a hard time making up that minimum three Heavy support requirements... I'd need second unit of Dark Reapers or another War Walker - if I'm wanting to keep it all METAL...

Maybe I'll just stick to big battalions and be limited to six Elites - three of whom will be Wraithlords.

What I WILL have when all the stuff I currently have squirrelled away is painted...

  • Farseer x2 - Headquarters
  • Autarch x 1 - Headquarters
  • Jain Zar (Phoenix Lord) - Headquarters
  • Fuegan (Phoenix Lord) - Headquarters
  • Baharroth (Phoenix Lord) - Headquarters
  • Karandras (Phoenix Lord) - Headquarters
  • Guardian Defenders x20 (two units of 10) - Troops
  • Rangers x30 (3-6 units of 5-10) - Troops
  • Warlocks x5 (one conclave of up to five) - Elites
  • Dire Avengers x20 (2-4 units of 5-10) - Elites
  • Howling Banshees x10 (1-2 units of 5 or 10) - Elites
  • Striking Scorpions x 10 (1-2 units of 5 or 10) - Elites
  • Fire Dragons x 5 (1 unit of five - unless I find three more) - Elites
  • Wraithguard x5 (one unit) - Elites
  • Wraithlords x 3 (3 individual units) - Elites
  • Warp Spiders x20 (1-4 units of 5-10) - Fast Attack
  • Swooping Hawks x5 (1 unit of five - unless I find one or two more I need to make 10) - Elites
  • Dark Reapers x4 (one unit - need one more to make COMPLETE unit of 5) - Heavy Support
  • War Walker x1 (on unit) - Heavy Support
All of this adds up to about 188 Power Level.. (which is about 3600 points...?) The LARGEST games are "Onslaught" which are played at 150 Power/3000 points. I think most tournaments are built around Strike Forces which are 100 Power/2000 Points? So I have LOADS to play around with...

The ONLY thing I'm even considering trying to track down would be ONE metal Dark Reaper to finish up a unit of five.

It doesn't even include the Wraith Knight (another 23 Power Rating) it is a plastic model... buuuuuut, I'd be okay using it (or tanks, if ever I got some) with this force.

It also doesn't even include my Harlequins - which are included in this book. I haven't read far enough to determine if they have to be included in separate detachments...

ALSO, I have a SECOND Aeldari force I'm kind of working on... in a large lot that Keiran and I bought off a local guy (for some metal stuff to finish up units) I ended up with a bunch of plastic stuff and a resin Eldrad Ulthran. So I thought I'd try to put together a separate Ulthwe Patrol Detachment, lead by the Big Elf himself! (If ever the Corsairs Ill be getting in the Kill Team box are used in 40K, they will probably show up in THIS detachement!)
  • Eldrad Ulthran - Headquarters - 8 PR
  • Guardian Defenders (10 + weapons platform) - Troops - 5 PR
  • Guardian Defenders (10) - Troops - 4 PR
  • Corsair Voidscarred (10) - Elites - 8 PR
I also have an extra Warlock I could paint as Ulthwe I could add to this... If ever I got all these done and wanted SOME kind of additional options, I might pick up some of those sweet new Storm Guardians!

Hopefully in the next week, I'll finish up the few final minis I need to finish up the Howling Banshees and Guardian Defenders - as well as the second Farseer, that I apparently now need - and post some pictures of these complete forces...

Then I need to come up with some opponents - either my own guard, or maybe help Finnegan reorganize/finish up some of his T'au or Orks or Deathwatch... and THEN we can actually try these theoretical options out!?

(I suppose I should read through the Harlequin options and finish rebasing those, too, at some point!)

40K - Biel-Tymm Combat Patrol Force

Finnegan actually suggested, in addition to a Kill Team campaign, we could organize forces for a parallel Warhammer 40,000 (9th Edition) Crusade Campaign - for when we wanted to play slightly larger actions. As the new Kill Team focuses more on using regular squads (or PARTS of regular squads) from regular 40K (and less take whatever you want!?) it should be easy to integrate a Kill Team into a force for a Crusade Campaign in 40K9E.

I have slowly been rebasing all of my 40K stuff - most of which were originally based on metal washers. At the time they were originally based, I liked the slimmer bases, but for many and varied reasons I've decided to rebase everything onto the standard plastic bases they were originally meant to be based on. Some of these reasons include weight (the metal minis plus metal bases mean a LOT of weight in those plastic drawers in my storage system!) and naming (with a thicker base, i can paint the names of each warrior on the sides of their base - for easier identification) and just a chance to do something more fun that the generic dirt and green and/or yellow/brown/dried tufts of grass, etc.

I do have a lot more Aeldari forces - like enough to field armies of many thousands of points. A lot of them aren't painted yet. Those that are painted, but not nescessarily rebased and considered for organization in the starting Combat Patrol  for the campaign can be seen on the 40K - Aeldari page:

Tim's Miniature Wargaming Blog: 40K - Aeldari Page

A Patrol Detachment is made up of 25 Power Level worth of Troops and must include one HQ element and one Troops element. It CAN include a second HQ Element, up to two more (three, total) Troop elements, and up to two Elite elements, up to two Fast Attack, Up to two Heavy Support, up to two fliers and up to one Transport PER Infantry element included in the Detachment.

I had lots of options to chose from, but can only start with 25 Power Level - additional forces can be added to the force, for more options and tactical flexibility - even while playing Combat Patrol level games.

Starting Force

Headquarters

  • Farseer Thymiltelyir - Shuriken Pistol and Witch Blade - 6 Power Level
  • Warlock Conclave (Adryllewi and Broelwyn) - Shuriken Pistol and Witch Blade - 4 Power Level

Troops

  • Rangers (5 - Maesenir, et al) - Shuriken Pistol and Ranger Long Rifle - 3 Power Level
  • Rangers (5 - More of Maesenir's Rangers) - Shuriken Pistol and Ranger Long Rifle - 3 Power Level
  • Dire Avengers (5 - Shrine of the Fading Night) - Avenger Shuriken Catapult and Plasma Grenades plus Exarch with Shuriken Pistol and Diresword - 2 Power Level

Heavy Support

  • Wraith Lord (1 - Kloethades) - Two Shuriken Catapults, Wraithbone fists, Aeldari Missile Launcher  - 7 Power Level

The Troops Element of this force is, essentially, Maesenir's Rangers Kill Team. The Patrol Detachment could basically be seen as representing The Big Boss - Farseer Thymiltelyir - and his two attendant Warlocks showing up with a Wraithlord to deal with something a little too big for Maesenir and his lot to handle on their own!

The Whole Force

Farseer Thymiltelyir

Warlock Conclave  (Adryllewi and Broelwyn)

Maesenir's Rangers

Exarch Bylizek and the Dire Avengers of the Shrine of the Fading Night (who often operate in conjunction with Maesenir's Rangers

Wraith Lord (Kloethades)

I originally considered adding a Squad of Dark Reapers

Loesenyth, Naerthyn, Dysenira, and Vielnivar of the Srhine of the Sunset Bouquet (it makes more sense in the original Aeldari...). only three will be fielded for the time being as they are fielded as three for 5 Power Level or five for 9 Power Level - I need one more to field a unit of five (or TWO more to simply field two units of three...). To bring these as a part of a Patrol Detachment I'd have to lose the Wraithlord and add in something worth 2 Power Level...

Other stuff I have painted that could be added as options (when I get to rebasing them):

  • 5-10 Warp Spiders
  • 10 more Scouts
  • 10 more Dire Avengers
  • 2 more Wraithlords
  • 5 Wraithguard
  • 5 Howling Banshees

At This point, playing at Combat Patrol level engagements, only one or two could really be added and would pretty much always mean leaving the Wraithlord back on the ship - or leaving some of Maesenir's Rangers behind... which... I GUESS is a possibility. I could just take the ONE Ranger unit of five - THAT could represent Farseer Thymiltelyir bringing out the BIG GUNS of the more hard hitting Aspect Warrior Shirnes to deal with a bigger problem and Maesenir is just along to guide them to the target that he has discovered...?

Of course I have PILES of other stuff I could finish painting up to add to and Asuryani force:

  • 3 MORE Warlocks
  • 15 MORE Rangers
  • 30+ Guardians and weapons platforms
  • 9 Swooping Hawks (need one more to make even 10!)
  • 9 Fire Dragons (ALSO need one more to make even 10!)
  • 11 Striking Scorpions (willing to trade spare Scorpion for Swooping Hawk or Fire Dragon!)
  • 5 MORE Howling Banshees
  • 10 More Warp Spiders

not sure how many of these I'll get to painting while we're just playing with Combat Patrol level forces. I doubt our Crusade Campaign will grow beyond Combat Patrols any time soon. I think I'd like to concentrate on getting ALL of my own factions up to Combat Patrol readiness first.  MOST of Finnegans 40K forces (Genestealer Cults, Orks, T'au, and Deathwatch) could be fielded as a Combat Patrol... but probably not Strike Forces... yet... (Maybe the Orks... MAYBE). Hopefully playing Kill Team and Crusade campaigns over the fall and winter, with a few of the different forces available to us will get him excited about enough about ONE of those factions he has to expand to the next level!

Next up should be LAST week's game(s) with Orion...

Grey Knight Force

While working on the Obliterators over the weekend, I also finished up a few more Grey Knights. I was kind of considering them for one of the scenario options for the Daemon World Campaign... but just didn't get to it... I have something entirely different for the final battle on Thursday.

The force so far - could be fielded as a Battalion Detachment now!

Or... could still be fielded as a Patrol Detachment - as the Ordo Malleus Inquisitor does not take up an HQ slot in the force organization.

Headquarters

Brother Captain - Storm Bolter, Nemesis Force Sword, Frag, Krak, and Psych-out Grenades - Power Rating 7

Brotherhood Champion Tyson - Storm Bolter, Nemesis Force Sword, Frag, Krak, and Psych-out Grenades- Power Rating 5

Brother Kyle  - Incinerator, Frag, Krak, and Psych-out Grenades

Brother Robin - Incinerator, Frag, Krak, and Psych-out Grenades

Brother Kevin - Incinerator, Frag, Krak, and Psych-out Grenades

Brother Patrick  - Psilencer, Frag, Krak, and Psych-out Grenades

Power Rating 7 (for five of them, one always Left-out-of-Battle)

(typically only five of these would take to the field any more and the Power Rating jumps to 13)

Total Power Level (so far): 45

Enough for a Crusade starting force!

A pair of alternative Ordo Malleus Inquisitors. Without the Terminator Armour, they would only be Power Rating 4.

I have a few other things that need finishing up  I have a Dreadnought and  three Terminators - all older metal minis!

One of the Terminators is done, I just need to finish up the other two. I'll probably field them as Paladins, as I have no great desire to track down two MORE old metal ones, and Paladins can be fielded in units of just three! The only trouble with them, is the OLD metal terminators DON'T have the wrist-mounted stormbolters the newer ones have - just the Nemesis force Halberds... Not sure if I should mock something up or track down newer bits and try to stick those one or just say they don't have them...? Regardless the Dreadnought and three Paladins would add another 10 Power Rating to the force.

I also have a pair of Rhino APCs to finish up. They're newer ones. As they can carry ten regular Greay Knights each, I could use them to ferry around the three Strike Teams and the Purgation Squad - two in each of the Rhinos. Rhinos are 4 Power Rating each.

So painting up the rest of the stuff I have could bring the force to 63 Power Level.

I do also have Bother Captain Stern and Castellan Crowe models... but I'm not super stoked about fielding named characters - so they're waaaaaay down on the paint list. I suppose I could just paint them up and maybe call Stern by some other name and just use him as a second Brother Captain (which would bring the force to 70 Power Level)

The only other thing I'm sort of considering would be a Land Raider, of some sort. This would make the entire force MECHANIZED and could ferry around the HQ elements along with the Paladins. But unless a crazy good deal on a used one comes my way, I probably won't be picking that up any time soon! (But if I did, that would be 85 Power Level!)

If I wanted to get crazy and bring it up to 100, that would probably require a Razorback and a Stormhawk Interceptor....

...but that would be CrAzY!?

Coming Soon to Tim's Miniature Wargaming Blog:

The Grand Finale to the Daemon World Challenge!
