I ordered a few things on Warhammer.com this past weekend... It started with ordering the Warhammer Day Commemorative Miniature (there's a whole discussion about that one the Warhammer Day post!) and I'd JUST ordered that because, now that there's a Warhammer Store in town, I can just have it shipped there and go pick it up, instead of needing to order $100 worth of stuff to get free shipping (or pay $20 shipping!?)
[apparently it's now only $80 for free home delivery shipping... I'm sure last time it was $100 - or more!?]
It's a nice ride out to the Warhammer Store - expecially in the fall...
I ended up placing TWO OTHER orders later on the weekend...
Starblood Stalkers and Sonic Weapons
The Starblook Stalkers - the only Seraphon warband is one of... nine...? Warbands that I didn't have and the only one I was really sad about not getting when I had the chance... There was a copy at Dragon's Den Games for years, and I guess I just expected it would sit there FOREVER... but one day I went in and it was gone and I've been kicking myself ever since.
A LOT of the Warhammer Underworlds warbands were re-released without the cards - for use in Warcry or Age of Sigmar... but without the cards, there was no point in getting them. (I know, some crafty people will download images of thecards and print them off and put them in sleeves... but I'm not one of them!). But since the NEW EDITION isn't going to NEED those old faction decks, I decided to snap up a team - before everyone else realized this and they went out of stock again!?
Also.. with the teasing that there would finally be an Emperors Children Codex next uear.. I decided to get a pack of Sonic Weapon upgrade sprues... I have one squad that I kitted out with some third party sonic cannons... but I don't love the look of them, they are SO MUCH CHONKIER than the Games Workshop ones (which is not something someone gets to say all that often!)... So I thought I'd best grab one of those sets before THEY disappear from the website - as I'm sure with the Emperor's Children Codex release there will be a brand new plastic Noise Marine kit and these will be going out of production!
I guess I could have waited and just bought one of the new kits and just retired the guys with the chonky sonic weapons... buuuuut... I don't know...
That does look like a very nice fall ride.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the new minis! :)
Cheers!
DeleteLovely autumnal ride and always good to get new figures!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
The upgrade is sure to be cheaper than buying a Noise marine/Emperor's children squad box! (I hope they keep the separation, but I suspect not given what happened with the other three marked legions...)
ReplyDeleteYeah... I am fairly certain we'll see boxes of 6 Noise Marines for $70-75CAD...
DeleteOr maybe it will be full squads of 10 for that much... Rubric Marines and Khorne berserkers are both in boxes of 10 for $75-$80CAD.
I am VERY curious to see WHAT ELSE they will come up with for the Emperors Children...!?
Thousand Sons got Magnus the Red, Ahriman, Rubric Marines, Tzaangor, Tzaangor Enlightened on flying disc, Tzaangor Shaman on flying disc, Scarab Occult Terminators, Infernal Masters, Exalted Sorcerers...
World Eaters got Angron, Daemon Primarch of Khorne, Khârn the Betrayer, World Eaters Lord on Juggernaut, the Eightbound, Jakhals, Exalted Eightbound, Lord Invocatus, Khorne Berzerkers, Khorne Lord of Skulls....
Deathguard got Mortarion, Daemon Primarch of Nurgle, Blightlord Terminators, Lord Felthius and the Tainted Cohort, Plague Marines, a Plague Marine Icon Bearer, Poxwalkers, Myphitic Blight-Haulers, Typhus, Herald of Nurgle, Scribbus Wretch the Tallyman, Plagueburst Crawlers, Nauseous Rotbone the Plague Surgeon, Foul Blightspawn, Foetid Bloat-Drones, Deathshroud Bodyguard, Miasmic Malignifiers, The Lord of Virulence, a Plague Marine Champion, Biologus Putrifiers, Plague Drones of Nurgle, The Chosen of Mortarion!?
What are the Emperor's Children going to get besides Noise Marines... maybe a new model for Lucious...? Will Fabious Bile be brought back into the fold!? Will we get a Fulgrim model!? Maybe some fancy Terminators... are they going to go draxy old school and give us some weird space marines riding on Steeds of Slaanesh!?!?
Exciting times!
I'm not sure what "draxy" means... I'm not even sure what I was trying to type there that autocorrect thought I was trying to type "draxy"...? WTF?!
Delete"totally"...? maybe...?
DeleteSexy old school?
DeleteWhat I would want, and what you would want for EC is likely to be completely different than what the GW design team wants. You only have to look at what the "god" armies get for AoS to see the huge difference between that and what they get in WH40k an ostensibly more popular game!
DeleteEC should have a captain, a medic/Fabious Bill light, elites, noise marines, and then some sort of cultists. Ideally they also get some sort of special weapons, and a vehicle or marines on Steeds as you mention. Would also be a good place to release bikes. and other generic Chaos stuff that is lacking. (they could also blow people's mind and have Slaaneshi eldar to fill the cultist slot)
If they follow the WE mold, we will instead get one dual build box, non-sexy cultists, and Fulgrim.
Slaaneshi Eldar... ooooooh... that WOULD be neat!!
DeleteIt does seem bonkers to me how much dedicated STUFF the Deathguard got compared to the other two. I think they may have gotten more stuff than Thousand Sons and World Eaters combined! Everyone can still use the bog-standard Chaos Rhinos and Chaos Landraiders and Chaos Predators... But they got their own vehicles - and not just one, THREE!?
DeleteI don't have my hopes up for a PILE of new stuff... but SOMETHING unique and flavourful would be nice...
A pile would be good though!
DeleteAnd I think the Plague marines got a lot because they were the "launch" bad guys, and because one of the sculptors really loves them and made all the variations. (including the easy build collector models)
Wouldn't be food for my pocket book!!
DeleteSure.... and maybe they realized not THAT many people bought a LOT of any particular one, so, less return on investment of paying sculptors and making moulds...
