After fending off Karanak, the Hound of Vengeance in our first game, Orion and I played a second game of Spearhead Friday afternoon. This time I brought out the Anvils of the Heldenhammer - Viglant BrotherSIBLINGhood!
The Stormcast eternals approached the Tomb Host in two groups. One lead by Lord Vigilant Thadeos Doursoul on the right flank with the Liberators. The other was lead by Lord-Veritant Shandra Moongheist on the left flank with the Prosecutors.
The Deathrattle Host took the initiative and the Barrow Knights brutally rode down the Liberators as they advanced. All but Liberator Xenia Brighthammer were knocked down and injured. Xenia kept swinging though, determined to bring a few of them down with her!
The Prosecutors moved out to harry the middle of the line.
They tossed their Stormcall Javelins before swooping in to charge the Barrow Guard. They were repulsed and knocked down by the Barrow Guard.
For a brief moment, Lord Vigilant Doursoul and Lord-Veritant Moongheist were all that stood against the Barrow Lord and his host.
Lord-Veritant Moongheist charged one of the units of Deathrattle Skeletons..
and... very nearly utterly destroyed the entire unit single-handedly!
The liberators had fallen back to catch their breath and walk off some pretty back dings and dents, but then returned to battle to aid their Lord Vigilant in fighting off the Barrow Knights and Barrow Guard.
In the renewed, more savage fighting, Liberator Lukas Surehammer and Liberator Petra Hammerforged were cut down and sent back to Azyr on bolts of lightning.
The Barrow Guard were utterly destroyed and the Barrow Knights were driven off.
The Prosecutors returned to the fray to help bring down the Barrow Lord.
The Barrow Knights advanced toward the middle of the battlefield and eyed the Lord-Veritant, but did not attack... Who can know the thoughts of undead...?
Another unit of Deathrattle Skeletons held their position in another corner of the field...
Then I forgot to take pictures of the last turn.
Despite how this one LOOKS like it went better for me... it went way worse. Orion won, again, with 21 victory points and I only managed to score 13...
Still... fun and quick game!
Sunday we played another Episode of What We Do in the Realm of Shadows. I should have a game report up for that shortly.
Tomorrow we are playing Warhammer Quest again and, with any luck, it might be the last Purge Journey before taking on Lady Annika!
