Guess what…?

That’s right… more Japanese…

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version)

Here’s a stand of Bow/Shooters for a DBA/HOTT Samurai army. I tried, originally, to cram five figures on this base, but it looked just way too damn crowded... Maybe for the spear and blade it will be okay, but it just didn't work out for the archers... Of course that means I can have MORE stands... not that I need any, as I think the most a Samurai army in DBA can field is one...? No, wait, I could have three to four in an "Early Samurai" army... I have no idea if these guys would really be "Early Samurai" or not though....

…and a couple more for skirmishing. He may look like a wretched peasant, but those buckets are perfectly balanced and can be swung with DEADLY precision and can knock an Oni’s head off!!!

  1. I am loving the Samurai action Tim! Those Samurai would definitely be considered early; their armour is much too scant for the later Samurai armies, who pretty much abandoned the bow anyway :)

    Great stuff!

  2. Well... technically these are "Ashigaru..." But that's good to know!

  3. Excellent basing job
    Well Done

It looks like you are running close to painting all your purchases for the year (looking at your LHS side panel)

I hope you have a lead "reserve" t o dip into?

  4. Yes, I am determined to paint more than I purchased - there is no shortage of "reserve led" around here to paint!

for a quickie primer on japanese armor history.

I agree with Neldoreth, definitely more early than later..Though, they could be later poorer Ashigaru.. or samurai, with old armor.

  6. Wow! That site's awesome! THANKS!!
