The Yakuza

The last of three posts today (the others were Snake Plissken and Dark Future Cops). Usually I cram all the painting updates for the day into one post… today I felt like doing them separately…

These are The Yakusa set from North Star Figures for the A Fistful of Kung Fu – Hong Kong Movie Wargame Rules. I've already finished the Cops, the Martial Arts Heroes, and the "American Trucker" special edition figure. I still have a few Daemons to finish up... 

Most of them I’d painted ages ago (well... in March), but the last two – the ones with tattoos – I’d held off on doing and so the rest just sat on the side of the painting table for me to get around to those last two so I could post them all together.

The Group (297 points)

Oyabun – Protagonist – 116 points

I also happen to have this older set of Yakuza from Wargames Foundry I painted a few years ago....

Not sure how I’d stat these out (not having had a full read-through of the rules yet), but I thought it would be fun to use them as a rival Yakuza faction!

Snake Plissken

A while back I picked up the “Cobra” figure from Hasslefree Miniatures with the intention of painting him up to look like Kurt Russel’s character from Escape from New York (and Escape from L. A.)

To really look like Snake Plissken I’d have had to have added a scope to the weapon which seemed a bit too fiddley for me… it probably would have ended up looking… well… not-so-nice… This guy will do as he is.

I’m hoping I may be able to use him in A Fistful of Kung Fu – Hong Kong Movie Wargame Rules.

Jack Burton

"Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, "Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it."

This was Favourite Character Fortnight Theme Bonus Round Entry over at the Fourth Annual Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge.

"It's all in the reflexes..."

One of my all-time favourite characters, from one of my all-time favourite movies. 

"I know, there's a problem with your face."

Here's the "new" Jack with my "old" Jack - the "Burt Jackson - Trucker" figure from Rafm which I picked up and painted a few years back.

'When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."'

"New Jack" seems to have a bit more of a tan...? 

NEITHER of these guys are actually carrying a Tec-9 like Jack Burton in the movie does. The Rafm version seems to have some short version of an MP-5 and the newer one has something that looks more like an Uzi. I'm guessing it has to do with some attempt to prove they are not infringing on Twentieth Century Fox's intellectual property rights...
