40K - Aeldari

The Eldar were my force real force for Warhammer 40,000. 40K figures weren't easy to get in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in the late 80s but I managed to put together a small force of them. It was just a few squads worth of metal guardians, a Lascannon, a wraithlord (then just called am Eldar Dreadnaught) and a small force of Harlequins (the original box set, plus a blister pack - that I only ever painted half of...) - but they saw a lot of action back in the day. I sold most of them off for next to nothing and have regretted the decision ever since. Thank goodness I hung on to the Harlequins I'd painted!

(Sure, I had that very first box of plastic marines - where did they ever end up!? - But that was mostly because they were the first 40K figures to show up and at $20 for THIRTY SPACE MARINES - it was a pretty sweet deal - the Eldar were the first force I had a few units of, that I'd put some thought into and a cohesive paint scheme)

Over the intervening decades I have reacquired a number of the same miniatures - plus a fair few newer ones. Now I have enough amassed to field and entire army of Assuryani (Craftworld Eldar)

Below you will find (if you scroll far enough)

Stuff to get

This is ALL of the painted Aeldari (Assuryani and Harlequins) as of January 2025 (just before the 10th edition codex release!)

ASSURYANI

The Assuryani are Aeldari that live on Craftworlds. Below are members of the Biel-Tymm Fleet, a independent flotilla of Aeldari voidships with ties to the Biel-Tan Craftworld. They are often accompanied into battle by a contingent of Harlequins from the Troupe of the Eternal Lament

The Current Warhost of Biel-Tymm... (so far!)

Characters

Farseer

Warlock Conclave

Units

Dire Avengers

Dire Avengers

These are three old Armourcast Tempest Heavy Grav-Tanks. I use them as Scorpion Heavy Tanks as they are similar to this current model...

Still to Do

I still have quite a few things I can paint for this force...

Most of the stuff still to paint as of January 2025

There's also this old Armourcast Phantome Titan to finish up...

And two smaller Revenant Titans

And

And Keiran also passed along their Triumvirate of Ynnead... Although, if ever I got around to assembling and painting these, I might use them with the Drukhari...?

Dammit... the most recent points list does not include points for the Scorpion Heavy Grav Tanks!? GAH!?

(There are some Harlequins in the picture above... but they're dealt with separately below... there is also an incomplete unit of Dark Reapers in the picture above... I have not included them in the currently fieldable force list above)

(If I do add the Harlequins I currently have painted to this I have 1995 points!!)

When I'm done ALL OF THESE it could look like...

  • Autarch  (1)  - 75 pts

  • Wraithlord (1) - 140 pts
  • Wraithlord (1) - 140 pts
  • Wraithlord (1) - 140 pts

Total: 4690 points - that's a LOT of options!! (enough for TWO complete forces!?)

(again, the Harlequins snuck into this picture, but they have not been included in the Assuryani army list above - but could be ADDED to the force!)

Stuff to Get?

Not really anything I can think of!?

I mean, if I could find some old Armourcast Falcons and Wave Serpants...? But I am definitely not actively looking for those right now...

Or if ever I stumbled across some old metal jet bikes that weren't insanely expensive... I would totally pick those up too...

HARLEQUINS

The entire Troupe  (So Far!)

Characters

Troupe Leader/High Avatar

Shadowseer

Solitaire

Death Jesters

Units

Troupe Players

Still to Do

I have a BUNCH of Harlequin players I've acquired over the years to finish painting up. In this picture they're organized as two units of ten and one unit of eleven. I have since picked up enough to field three full troupes of TWELVE. So many of them are are SO CLOSE to being done it is PAINFUL... others have been based and primed black...

THE PLAN

When the Harlequins are all done, I will have...

  • Troupe Master (1) 75 pts
  • Shadowseer (1) - 60 pts
  • Death Jester (1) - 90 pts
  • Death Jester (1) - 90 pts
  • Death Jester (1) - 90 pts
  • Solitaire (1) - 115 pts
  • Troupe  (12) - 205 pts
  • Troupe  (12) - 205 pts
  • Troupe  (12) - 205 pts

Total: 1135

Stuff to Get?

If ever I stumbled across some old metal harlequin jet bikes (I had one waaaaaaaay back) that weren't insanely expensive... I would totally pick those up... but I'm not holding my breath...

I just don't feel like I need any of the new plastic vehicles... (though that could bring the force up to 2000 points on it's own!?)

EPIC AELDARI

I have a lot of old epic stuff...

both Assuryani and Harlequins...

But that will have to wait for another update at another time...

I also have a load of Epic Eldar for when the Biel-Tymm gets into some REALLY big engagements...

I was originally planning to use these with Future War Commander. Each stand representing a platoon of infantry or vehicles. So this would represent about company sized detachments of Fire Dragons and Striking Scorpions - with their own organic Falcon AIFVs... Some additional Falcons - with no infantry to carry about just yet. a couple platoon-sized groups of jet bikes - likely recognizance elements. And some Warpspiders and allied Harlequins.

More recently I've considered using the 2019 version of Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse... but use centimetres instead of inches for movement and that might make a pretty fun game...

I guess there is the old Epic rules I could try and track down...

Characters

None of those finished so far...

Units

Striking Scorpions.

Dedicated transport for he above Striking Scorpion aspect warriors - Falcon Grav "tanks". Despite being referred to as "tanks", they do have the capacity to transport infantry, so I think of them more as AIFVs.

A Headquarters Element for the above Striking Scorpions. Not sure what this would be in the Apocalypse rules...? A Warlock?

Dedicated Transport and HQ element for some Fire Dragon aspect Warriors (which I apparently don't have pictures of...?)

Warpspiders

I should probably rebase these onto two stands of five... Originally I had one on their own to be a leader element of Future War Commander.

I don't have any pictures of the rest at the moment...

Still to Do

I have piles left to do... Guardians by the hundreds... more aspect warriors... a few Phantom Titans...

THE PLAN

I'd have to decide on a game system before I start making a PLAN of any sort...

Stuff to Get?

Not really...

DRUKHARI (or Ynnead!?)

At some point I'll get around to gathering up the Drukhari and taking some pictures and updating this portion of the page...
