I kind of fell bass-ackwards into this army. I bought Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - which basically included a starter army for the Soulblight Gravelords right there?! buying more miniatures for the Night Wars and Nemesis expansions for Cursed City will just built that up more...
And then there was Age of Sigmar, 4th Edition, with its Spearhead game... Of course I needed to get a Spearhead army for that?!
Also undead make for great adversaries in role-playing games...
Painted (so far...)

The Soulblight Gravelords so far...
(minus a few of the latest vampires.. and Torgilius... and including a LOT of things that aren't really even playable in a Soulblight Gravelords Age of Sigmar army anymore... )
Heroes
MOST of the Heroes I had were acquired with the Original Warhammer Quest: Cursed City base set, or were bought for one of the expansions or the other... at some point I may pick up the other two Vyrkos Dynasty Characters... (Belladamma Volga, First of the Vyrkos - to have someone else in charge - that isn't Radukar! - and Ivya Volga, the Outcast!)
Radukar the Wolf - came with Warhammer Quest: Cursed City.
Radukar the Beast - a bigger, meaner ferrel version of Radukar after he went all Vargskyr... picked up for use in Warhammer Quest: Cursed City's Night Wars campaign.
Lady Annika, the Thirsting Blade
Picked up to use in Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - Night Wars!
Kritza the Rat Prince
Picked up to use in Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - Night Wars!
Carmilla Du Sang, Vampire Lord
Came with the Soulblight Gravelords Speahead army, but picked up to use as Carmilla Du Sang in Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - Night Wars!
Sir Renmold of Sylum Field - Grave Guard/Wight King
This is Finnegan's character for a Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound using the Champions of Death book that I'm calling What We do in the Realm of Shadows.
The Model is a converted Wight King - I took the original head/helmet/crown off and replaced it with a ridiculous Chaos Knight's helmet - with a bonus plume from a Hedonite of Slaanesh!
You can read more about it here:
Wight King - older metal model!
Vlad and Isabella Von Carstien - Classic Metal Warhammer Fantasy models!
(Or they could be used as two generic Vampire Lords - though the miniatures are named characters, there are no actual rules of Vlad and Isabella in Age of Sigmar! I think they died in the Old World and weren't reborn in Age of Sigmar...?)
Units
Deathrattle Skeletons/Ulfenwatch - these are the ones that came with Warhammer Quest: Cursed City.

More Deathrattle Skeletons - these and the unit below came with the Soulblight Gravelord Vanguard/Spearhead box. They were released around the same time as the ones that came with Warhammer Quest (above) and look very similar, but aren't the same! The Warhammer Quest ones were press-fit and these needed to be glued... Poses are slightly different.
STILL More Deathrattle Skeletons

Deadwalker Zombies - Half are from Warhammer Quest: Cursed City, the other half are from the regular Deadwalker Zombie box, which I split with Orion so we'd each have a unit of twenty when added to our Cursed City zombies!
Fell Bats
Dire Wolves
Legends
Units that they still have warscrolls for, but aren't allowed in competitive Matched Play... Mostly these are Warhammer Underworlds warbands and hostiles from Warhammer Quest: Cursed City that were originally playable in Age of Sigmar, but have rotated out...
Heroes
Cado Ezechiar, the Hollow King - picked up and painted because I really enjoyed listening to the audiobooks! There was a time in his histroy that he did lead entire armies against the forces of Chaos - and I thought it might be fun for him to lead my forces of undead!
While Cado Ezechiar is still a playable character, there is a NEW model, that comes with two other characters that are all meant to be played together in the rules.. I can't be bothered to pick that up or model the other characters with... something else.. so I have resigned to just playing a Vyrkos Dynasty force with Radukar and his remaining minions at the helm!
Watch Captain Halgrim - came with Warhammer Quest: Cursed City.
Torgilius the Chamberlain - came with Warhammer Quest: Cursed City.
Gorslav the Gravekeeper - came with Warhammer Quest: Cursed City.
Units
Kosargi Nightguard - these also came with Warhammer Quest: Cursed City.
Undead Ogors, raised from the loyal bodyguards that had served Radukar in life.
Vargscyr - these also came with Warhammer Quest: Cursed City.
Vyrkos Blood-Born - these also came with Warhammer Quest: Cursed City.
The Vyrkos were once the mortal nobles of Mournhold before Radukar's seizing control of the city and renamed it Ulfenkarn. They are now feral creatures that stalk the streets of the city at night.

The Sepulchral Guard

The Sons of Velmorn

Zondara’s Gravebreakers
Endless Spells
These are a few of the Endless Spells from the Malign Sorcery box set that I've painted up to use with the Soulblight Gravelords (since they don't have their own faction spells!)
Suffocating Gravetide
The backside of the Suffocating Gravetide. All of those flagstones were added by me... not part of the original model! I wanted it to match the flagstone bases I've used for all the other models! (Also wanted it to look like it was wrecking the streets of Ulfenkarn - as it's also used in Warhammer Quest: Cursed City!)
Still To Do
What I currently OWN and still have to do, is:
- Sekhar, Fang of Nulahmia (1)
- Vampire Lords (2) (another set of Vlad and Isabella Von Carstein)
- Wight King on Skeletal Steed (1)
- Necromancer (1)
- Vargheists (3)
- Blood Knights (5)
- The Crimson Court (4)
- The Exiled Dead (7)
I also have a few more Endless Spells that I could use with this army I could paint up!
THE PLAN
The first part of THE PLAN was to finish up all the stuff for Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - Night Wars. That is (more or less) done (I never did finish a couple of the Mysterious Object markers - as I had so many of my own wee terrain bits I could use, I never really needed them)
The NEXT order of business is to finish painting the miniatures needed for a Spearhead Army. I have finished the Vampire Lord and Deathrattle Skeletons, but still need to finish the Bloodknights and Vargheists!
Those two things alone, Spearhead army plus all the stuff from Cursed City makes a considerable force... I'd definitely be able to play a Path to Glory campaign with those.
After that, just painting up things for fun - as extra options for the army...
Spearhead
The Soulblight Gravelords - Bloodcrave Hunt spearheah army includes
General:
- Vampire Lord (1) - Done!
Units:
- Vargheists (3) - Still to Do!
- Blood Knights (5) - Still to Do!
- Deathrattle Skeletons (10) - Done!
- Deathrattle Skeletons (10) - Done!
I've played AGAINST this force a lot as my friend Orion has them. They are BRUTAL!!
There is a second Spearhead army - The Deathrattle Tomb Host - but I'd need to pick up and paint a few more units to complete it!
Paths to Glory
The next Priority is generally to finish up a 1000-point force to use as a starter army in Paths to Glory... At one point, as soon as the Spearhead is done, I would have had a potential Path to Glory force - by adding in miniatures already painted for Warhammer Quest: Cursed City! As many of the options have shuffled off into Legends, I have to rethink all of this....
Larger Forces
I costed out ALL THE STUFF I have at one point and it added up to over 4000 points of stuff. I could have fielded TWO Soulblight Gravelord armies!? The points have since changed and more than a few of the units are not really allowed in organized play - a lot of the Cursed City stuff and none of the Warhammer Underworlds warbands were included in the Fourth Edition Battletome. Oh, there are still Legends stats out there for people not playing in tournaments and leagues...
I'm kind of just focusing right now on getting the Spearhead army and a Paths to Glory force finished, so not really giving much thought to what bigger armies might look like... Maybe when I get the new Battletome...?
Currently Playable stuff (with points current to April 2026)
Heroes
Kritza, the Rat Prince (1) 70 - Any Soulblight Gravelords - This Hero can join an eligible regiment as a Vyrkos Retainer.
Lady Annika, the Thirsting Blade (1) 100 - Any Soulblight Gravelords - This Hero can join an eligible regiment as a Vyrkos Retainer.
Radukar the Beast (1) 250 - 0-1 Vyrkos Retainer, Any Soulblight Gravelords - You cannot include this unit and Radukar the Wolf in the same army.
Radukar the Wolf (1) - 130 0-1 Vyrkos Retainer, Any Soulblight Gravelords - You cannot include this unit and Radukar the Beast in the same army.
Vampire Lord (1) 140 - Any Soulblight Gravelords
Wight King (1) 80 - Any Soulblight Gravelords - This Hero can join an eligible regiment as a Deathrattle Overseer.
Hero Total: 640
Units
Deadwalker Zombies (20) 130 - Deadwalkers, Infantry
Deathrattle Skeletons (10) 90 - Deathrattle, Infantry
Deathrattle Skeletons (10) 90 - Deathrattle, Infantry
Deathrattle Skeletons (10) 90 - Deathrattle, Infantry
Dire Wolves (10) 150 - Deadwalkers, Beast
Fell Bats (3) 80 - Deadwalkers, Beast
Units Total: 630
Army Total: 1270
Wow... not a lot anymore... with point values dropping and so many units shuffling off to legends... I can't currently put together a full 1000 point Path to Glory army without using some named characters!? If I got the Blood Knights finished, that would be less of a problem.
I don't really have a LOT to finish.
Still to finish painting...
Necromancer (1) 120 - 0-1 Deathrattle Overseer, Any Soulblight Gravelords
Sekhar, Fang of Nulahmia (1) 160 - Any Soulblight Gravelords
Wight Lord on Skeletal Steed (1) 110 - Any Deathrattle -This Hero can join an eligible regiment as a Deathrattle Overseer.
Vargheists (3) 120 - Infantry
Barrow Guard (10) 130 - Deathrattle, Infantry
Blood Knights (5) 220 - Cavalry
If I got everything by Sekhar done, I'd have a 2000 point force!
Lost Song Spirits - Regiment of Renown
I can also include a Lost Song Spirits - Regiment of Renown with the Nighthaunts (not sure if they're still playable - they might have just been a temporary thing... but it was a fun idea, so I'm still including them here !)
The Lost Song Revenants include:
Hero - Treelord (1) 210 - Any Sylvaneth
Unit - Spite-Revenants (5) 80 - Infantry
Unit - Spite-Revenants (5) 80 - Infantry
Total: 370 points
An ARMY including the Lost Song Spirits and MOST of the currently painted Soulblight Gravelords could look like this...
Radukar the Beast General's Regiment
- Hero - Radukar the Beast (1) 250 - 0-1 Vyrkos Retainer, Any Soulblight Gravelords
- Unit - Lady Annika, the Thirsting Blade (1) 110 - This Hero can join an eligible regiment as a Vyrkos Retainer
- Unit - Kosargi Nightguard (2) 110 - Deadwalkers, Infantry
- Unit - Vyrkos Blood-born (3) 150 - Infantry
- Unit - Vargskyr (1) 160 - Beast
Total: 780
Vampire Lord's Regiment
- Hero - Vampire Lord (1) 140 - Any Soulblight Gravelords
- Unit - Fell Bats (3) 90 - Deadwalkers, Beast
Total: 230

- Unit - Deathrattle Skeletons (10) 90 - Deathrattle, Infantry
- Unit - Deathrattle Skeletons (10) 90 - Deathrattle, Infantry
- Unit - Deathrattle Skeletons (10) 90 - Deathrattle, Infantry
Total: 360
Kritza, the Rat Prince's Regiment
- Hero - Kritza, the Rat Prince (1) 70 - Any Soulblight Gravelords
- Unit - Deadwalker Zombies (20) 140 - Deadwalkers, Infantry

- Hero - Treelord (1) 210 - Any Sylvaneth
- Unit - Spite-Revenants (5) 80 - Infantry
- Unit - Spite-Revenants (5) 80 - Infantry
Total: 370 points
ARMY TOTAL: 1950
Stuff to Get...!?
There isn't much I'm interested in getting to add to this force at this time...
I guess at SOME point in the future, if ever I got all (or, at least, MOST of the stuff I have done) it could be fun to add one of the Mortarchs... Neferata, Mortarch of Blood or Mannfred, Mortarch of Night.
Some of the other Vampires models look really fun... Ivya Volga, the Outcast, Belladamma Volga, First of the Vyrkos (I mean, I HAVE some Vyrkos alreay!). Also the Vengorians - Vengorian Lords or Lauka Vai, Mother of Nightmares... Or Prince Vhordrai, Lord of the Crimson Keep on a Revenant Draconith!? But I already HAVE far too many heroes to even use!?
I guess I would need to decide which Bloodline I'd want to build an army around?! As I said, I do have a lot of Vyrkos already...
ALSO, the Cursed Sepulchre/Nexus of Grief looks like a fun little bit of terrain that could have uses beyond Age of Sigmar!
