Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - Session Twenty-Four - Family Ties

Still very behind on these game reports. This was from a Sunday at the beginning of June - over a month ago - when we got to playing the second Decapitation Journey to finish off Level Three in Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - Family Ties!

In this Journey the Heroes attempt to raid the Ven Alten estates (again!) and kill three of Glaruio's distant cousins who have become Radukar's pet killers - three particularly vicious Vyrkos Blood-Born - the Ven Alten triplets; Loria, Janus, and Holrik!

For this Journey, Amanda played Qulathis the Exile and Glaurio ven Alten III and Finnegan played Dagnai Holdenstock and Brutogg Corpse-Eater.

Strangely, as they stepped out of the landing zone... two of the Ven Alten Triplets were there waiting for them!

It's like they KNEW the heroes were coming for them...

Before anyone could even act, a HORDE of Deadwalker Zombies surged into the square as well!

Glaurio pushed out of the landing zone and blew a hole through Loria ven Alten!

Dagnai joined in the vampire-slaying and cleaved through Janus ven Alten

Brutogg bullied his way through the Zombie horde and started smashing them from behind.

Qlathis swooped in and finished off a few more Deadwalker Zombies!

Turning and smashing down a door, Brutogg found hordes of Corpse Rats beyond and heard the approach of a patrol of the Ulfenwatch!

Dagnai and Glaurio still lingered back in the garden beyond the landing zone, catching their breath...?

Brutogg weighed into the swarm of zombified rats!

After smashing a great many (and snacking on a few!) he was joined in his extermination by Dagnai.

Glaurio helped finish off a few more and the remainder fled! and that's when The Fuzz arrived and demanded to see some identification. Glaurio blasted apart the first through the door.

The Dagnai charged in and started smashing the rest of the patrol with his axe, before they could summon any more!

With the Ulfenwatch taken care of the Heroes continued on through the maze of streets and buildings. in the next building that were swarmed by bats...

Beyond the Bats, were the ven Altens, who had returned with their cousin Holrik!

Shouting at Glaurio, Loria shrieked; "FOOLISH MORTAL! YOU THINK WE ARE SO EASY TO..."

BLAM!!

Glaurio put another bullet through Loria and send her sprawling to the ground where he finished her with his sword!

The shrieks of the vampires dying... AGAIN... drew the attention of Radukar himself!

Dagnai and Brutogg laid a severe beating on him, that made him slink back into the shadows in a nearby alley. They heard him curse "Next time, you meddling teenagers... Next tiiiiiiiiiiimmmme!"

Then Brutogg and Glaurio smashed apart another patrol of the Ulfenwatch that had arrived with their master.

Ragukar sent in a Vargskyr to deal with them...

But even a Vargskyr isn't so much of a threat to these stalwart companions, now!

Qulathis filled it full of arrows and Brutogg barged in to finish it off!

Glaurio and Dagnai finished off one last patrol of Ulfenwatch...

and that was it... they'd made it to the Ven Alten Estates...

We had a brief break to eat supper and then I set up the second half of the Journey!

It is assumed that the three Ven Alten triplets have returned from a feast and are in a Feeding Frenzy and won't move until they take damage or activate with a heroes visible to it. Once one of the three are killed the sounds of their dying alerts the other two and the Feeding Frenzy rule no longer applies...

They were probably feeding to repair the damage they'd taken earlier out in the streets of Ulfenkarn!

Brutogg started out by raging ahead and smashing apart a few of the Ven Alten's Deadwalker Zombie servants/guards.

Qulathis joined him and got Loria ven Alten's attention by putting a few arrows into her!

Loria ven Alten shot out of the room with unnatural speed and assaulted Brutogg and Dagnai, who had just arrived. Dagnai finished her off with a chop of his family's mighty vampire-chopping axe.

Loria's brothers - Janus and Holrik came running.

Brutogg and Dagnai tried to bottleneck them in a doorway, so they could be dealt with one at a time.

Glaurio finally joined them and shot Janus ven Alten down.

Effectively each vampire had to be killed twice. As their Gravesand Phylacteries just couldn't easily be gotten at to be destroyed. Killing them once destroyed the Phylactery, and then they had to be killed again...

Holrik ven Alten wasn't going down without a fight. Glaurio dueled with him...

but was driven back into the next room... or... was it a feint to draw in Holrik where he would be surrounded by all four heroes and destroyed!

After Killing him once... watching him get up when his phylactery shattered in the distance, reviving him... the heroes watched in horror as his broken and battered form began to mutate and expand, growing into an absoloute monsterous form... and then get up AGAIN!? (the last triplet killed turned into a Vargskyr!)

All joined in the effort to bring the Vargskyr down!

With the three Ven Alten Triplets finally destroyed for good, our heroes just had to make good their escape past the last of the Deadwalker Zombie staff/guards.

Which.. wasn't too hard.

All made is safely back to the extraction zone and they were whisked away on the Adamant!

Only Radukar remains...

With the end of this mission, the heroes can now gain experience towards gaining Level Four - and those that completed this Journey, gained one experience token! Two more successful Journeys and this lot would be ready to take on The Wolf himself! (of course if they ALL wanted to get up to Level Four, it might take a few more Journeys!)

(in the weeks between when this was played and I finally finished this game report, the Heroes have indeed all made it to Level Four and are ready to take on The Wolf this week!! So I am hoping to get the next few reports done over the next following days so I can post the report of the Finale by the end of the week... assuming they succeed and it IS the Finale!?)

Stay tuned!!
