Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - Session Twenty-Eight - Hunt Journey

Kicking off gaming in July, we played this penultimate adventure on last Wednesday, 2 July 2025. At the time I was about a month behind in posting game reports... but I've managed to catch up on the game reports this past week before we play THE FINAL JOURNEY...

Finnegan was playing Brutogg Corpse-Eater and Octren Glimscry. Amanda played Qulathis the Exile and Glaurio ven Alten III.  (As ever, I was the Game Master, controlling all the hostiles and keeping the game moving!)

The hunting ground for this Journey was rather small and a number of the Hostile Groups went first... which effectively blocked all the heroes in the Landin Zone...

Brutogg was the first to go and beat a pair of Vyrkos Blood-Born vampires to mushy pulp (and maybe some of the others helped a bit... but it was mostly Brutogg!)... and Corpse Rats quickly rushed in to fill their place...

Not wanting that third Vyrkos Blood-Born to escape (with 2/3 of it's hostile group destroyed, it WOULD just flee on it's next activation... and each of the Vyrkos IS considered a champion... and the point of the mission is to DESTROY CHAMPIONS!!) so he barged out of the Landing Zone when a little space was cleared, and beat the third one down!

A patrol of the Ulfenwatch shoved their way in to join the fray!

EVENTUALLY the hostiles were thinned out... and the rest of the Heroes were able to make it out of the Landing Zone!

Glaurio rushed out to meed some lumbering Kosargi Nightguard they heard approaching - two blasts with his pistols and a good hard poke with his sword the the brute collapsed to the ground.

Brutogg stepped in to beat the second Kosargi Nightguard down!

And... that was it.. ten champions destroyed...

Time to head for the Extraction Zone!

Everyone made it to the Extraction Zone!

There is an extraction event table that is rolled on (d12) at the end of each Journey. About half of them are beneficial and half are... not-so-great... A roll of four on the table means The Wolf has caught the Heroes' scent and is on the hunt for them. One of the starting Hostile groups is replaced with Radukar the Wolf... This is the only instance in which he will actually show up before... Level Three...? Not ONCE in the previous TWENTY-SEVEN games did we roll a four!? But now, for this last adventure... when they're going to hunt Radukar in his lair... he's going to be waiting for them when they arrive at the Landing Zone!?

The group has been very lucky in that. It would have been potentially DEVASTATING to encounter Radukar at Level Zero or Level One!

With this, Octren Glimscry is now at Level Four and all are ready to take on the Wolfking! (which will be THIS EVENING!)

As the Decapitation Journeys are longer affairs involving a rush through the streets to escape a Suffocating Gravetide (as above) followed by the actual confrontation in the lair of their target, we're planning on playing the (hopefully) final Journey over two evenings!

Wish us luck!

(I'll try and get the game report done by Thursday!)
