Belgians, Slaves, Wizards, etc.

An odd assortment of items rolling off the workbench today….

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version):

Belgian machine-gunners from Great War Miniatures.

Another view of the same…

… and another..

…and one more.

A Scots Rifleman also from Great War Miniatures.

These miniatures above were painted for the Lead Adventure Forum's Great War Painting Club

Slaves/captives from Black Tree Design.

A roman up to no good tha I converted from a Warlord Games figure.

Finally a wizard from  Reaper Miniatures.

Some sort of Devil Dog - also from Reaper Miniatures - I was trying to go for roughly jakal like colours... but I think he may have turned out a bit yellow...

Coming soon on Tim’s Miniature Wargaming Blog:

I have a couple of merchants stalls I was working on last night and will hopefully finish up this evening… I hope I might get in another game with the kids today… we shall see…

A Few more things rolling off the workbench…

1914 Belgian Carabiniers

This is what happens when I don’t play games for a month… I get distracted. Not that being distracted is bad, per se.

Perhaps this was a bid to get John back at the game table…?

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version):

1914 Belgian Carabiniers from Great War Miniatures. Lovely figures.

I have 18 of them. I’d like to pick up another 12 (at some point!) to fill out two units of 15. I’m thinking I might pick up some of the Carabiniers from Brigade Models - just for a bit of variety.

I’m not sure what to do for an officer for this unit (or THESE units, when there are two!). No one seems to make a specific “Carabinier Officer”. Brigade has a Carabinier NCO, and GWM has a Belgian command pack that has an assortment of uniforms and headgear – none in the Tyrolean hat the carabiniers seem to wear. Did the Officers wear the Tyrolean hat? I have an officer in a sidecap – could I pass him off as a Carabinier officer? He’s not in a great coat, however… and I’m not even sure if their tunic colour would be the same colour as the carabiniers great coat…?!

Ah well… not going to have these guys on the table any time too soon anyway…

Legionnaires? Martians? Mounted ANZACs? The last of the Modern Zombies?! who knows…

Two More Belgians

Trying to stay focused on the Great War and get some stuff done and wanting to see what these new toys looked like painted up…

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version):

A Belgian line infantry officer and sergeant from Great War Miniatures. The rest of this unit will be a long time in coming, however, as I only have a pack of officers and NCOs – picked them up at the recent Maelstrom Games warehouse moving/clearance sale and all they had for Belgians was Line Command and Carbiniers. Someday (not anytime soon – as they are certainly not a “priority item”) I will order some more Belgian line infantry and finish off a few units…

Coming soon on Tim’s Miniature Wargaming Blog:

The rest of the Belgian Carbinier unit remains on the workbench, but they have been joined by a bunch of more modern items… More on that shortly.

Belgian Carbinier and Some Damned-Fool-Intellectual-Type

Wow… The upside of being sick all summer and rarely leaving the house was I was very (VERY) productive… With Summer over and coughing (more or less) faded and regularly scheduled activities resumed it feels like I hit a brick wall and productivity has ground to a halt! Hopefully in a week or so the dust will settle and I’ll have the kids Education Plan submitted and I’ll have some time again to paint toys and maybe even PLAY some games!

For the moment, this is all I’ve got for you…

Some damned-fool, intellectual-type from Artizan Designs.

Coming soon on Tim’s Miniature Wargaming Blog:

Since I haven’t been painting much I cleared off the workbench and only left the remaining Belgian Carbiniers - so hopefully they’ll be next. Of course I may not get to them and end up putting them away and pull out something entirely different to paint…!?

I was actually eyeing up some Zulu War and VSF martian stuff the other night... so who knows!? I should get playing some games (to get motivated) or I'm going to end up all over the place!?
