MOAR Micro Mini Medieval French

This weekend, when I SHOULD have been working on stuff for our Warhammer Quest game, I instead worked on a few more Micro Mini (10mm) Medieval French... or... Pseudo-Medieval French as I only need the ONE element of crossbow for the Medieval French army, so most of these will likely end up in fantastical armies (indeed one of the two has been painted in the colours of Baron (later Duc) Philippe du Lapin - an army that started off as a Warhammer Fantasy Battle Brettonian army... but has been repurposed as a kind-of-french-ish Lion/Dragon Rampant army... which I plan to recreate as one of the fantastical armies I'm going to get out of this box of plastic historical Frenchmans!)

I left the possibly future Bunny Rampant HotT army crossbowman's pavises plain red, thinking I might try to add the bunny rampant device later... wasn't sure if I should do something tiny (like the fleur-de-lis on the other element) or a GREAT BIG RABBIT...?

Two elements of Crossbow

I did want to do these in two ranks... the 40x20mm was barely deep enough to get the first rank on with the pavises, so I went with the deeper 40x30mm bases... they seem okay...

Also could not get six across the front like I did with the foot men-at-arms, but that was okay, as these didn't need to be quite as dense and the crossbowmen that I'm using for the second rank, that are just kind of standing around, only came in blocks of two or three... so... (I did paint a sixth individual crossbowman for each element, just in case I COULD fit them on... but in the end I didn't think it looked as good with the six... but the outer ones on the line were so close to the edge of the base it would have been difficult to hide the miniatures base...)

There were also individual pavises that the rear rank could have stood behind, but there was no way they were fitting on a 40x30mm base and I just didn't want to go all the way up to a 40x40mm base for these!

The entire army so far...

or... at least... all of the elements I have painted, so far... as these likely won't ever be fielded in the same army together. At least not as an historical army.

Rather than painting them on the frame, as I did last time, I tried sticking them down to bottle caps (as my friend Cory had suggested) and this worked out rather well!
