Path to Glory: Ravaged Coast - Assault on the Sea Cave

After losing much of the armies supplies to the hungry, wandering Gargants, Goretim the Reddish bade his Slaughterpriests to beseech their lord Khorne to aid in the provisioning of the Bloodbound Horde! Reading the entrails of a slaughtered Gorepigeon, the Slaughterpriests claimed Khorne had gifted them with visions and they would find all they needed near a sea cave along the coast... and so they marched!

Near a sea cave, along the coast they did indeed come upon an army encampment full of provisions... unfortunately, the army was in the camp... and were not the least bit surprised by the army's approach!

Furthermore, it was their nemesis, the hated Soulblights... AGAIN!?

On the right flank, the Mighty Skullcrushers of the Red Path charged forth and trampled a picket of skeletal warriors guarding barrels FULL of blood! Khorne would be pleased!

The Mighty Skullcrusher were unable to secure their treasure, however, as a squadron of Blood Knights charged in from one flank and a Purple Sun of Shyish - summoned by the foul soulblight vampire - assailed their other flank!

The Blood Warriors secured a trover of Emberstone.

In the center, the newly recruited Ogroid Myrmidon sought to earn his pay and charged forth with his new friend the Korgorath, and secured a herd of pigs the enemy had gathered for "provisions"... they were followed on by a the cultists of the Claws of Karanak!

Not far away, the Vengorian Lord and a Terrorgheist noted their approach!

The two charged in and ran into a pair of Hex-Gorger Skulls, summoned by Bob Bloodblob... the Terrorgheist annihilated the two floating skulls (that were DEFINITELY NOT MAGICAL!)

Then the Vengorian Lord swooped in on the Ogroid Myrmidon and Khorgorath, knocking them on their asses and sending them scurrying away from the field of battle (each with a pig under each arm, though!)

The Bloodreavers charged in to aid the Claws of Karanak in holding back the Terrorgheist and Vengorian Lord, while the last of the pigs were removed to their rear for later slaughter and feasting!

The two monstrous creatures slashed and chomped at the bloodbound warriors, dealing horrific wounds.

Soon there were only two of the Bloodbound warriors remaining to distract them as the rest fled with their prizes (and dragged off the wounded)

The two, affectionately known as Mr Squigly-Wiggley and Rock-Paw - for their respective mutations bestowed upon them by the Lord of Blood... these two heroes, held back the mighty beasts as long as they could, before they, too, were swatted aside and trampled underfoot. When they later made their way back to the bloodbound camp, broken and bleeding, they were healed and fĂȘted by their comrades...

Orion was back in town a bit early for the holidaze as the last few days of work were cancelled due to the blizzard that swept into Saskatchewan on Wednesday! Thursday we played a game, and then Friday she had another game lined up with Matt.

I gained SIX Emberstone Shards from playing this game... I had some leftover in the vault from previous games. I spend three to recruit the Mindstealer Sphiranx into my Slaves to Darkness Regiment. Another three were used to give Goretim the Reddish the Spiteful Spark Heroic Trait (from the Ravaged Coast book) because... why not? Totally buffing that bully to the MAX! I was seriously tempted by Ar'Gath, the King of Blades (which disallows an enemy hero from using any ward saves when fighting the hero with Ar'Gath!) but I already HAD an Artifact of Power for Goretim (which I'd bought after Game Four and COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT AND NEVER USED!?). Finally I spent the last two shards advancing the Mighty Skullcrushers along the Path of Brazen Butchery and giving them the Soul-Eating Rage ability (-1 from ward rolls for enemy unit while in combat with the Mighty Skull-Crushers)

I suggested that since there were just the four of us (Sean, Matt, Orion, and myself) playing in this campaign, rather than rushing to see who can be the first two to win a Hateful Shores scenario and then play the Raid on Hell's Claw to win the campaign, I suggested a four-player MEGA BATTLE for sometime next week to determine the victor - and everyone agreed!! All agreed and I shall be hosting that on MONDAY!!

It will be exciting to see all four forces on the table - one from each of the Grand Alliances; Sons of Bebemat/Destruction, Soulblight Gravelords/Death, Stormcast Eternals/Order, and Blades of Khorne/Chaos!

Path to Glory: Ravaged Coast - Rift in the Peaks

After fighting the Soulblights to a standstill in a nearby valley (...okay, it was a DEFEAT!), Goretim the Reddish retired to a rift in the nearby peaks, caused by recent volcanic activity to rest and regroup. The following morning, they woke to find the Soulblight army arrayed before them. Battle lines were quickly drawn up to face the hated foe once again!

The Bloodbound quickly moved to the attack!

Slaughterpriest Bob Bloodblob, despite being drained from a failed healing ceremony, successfully summoned a pair of Hexgorger Skulls which drifted hauntingly towards the enemy, while the Blood Warriors of the Red Wave scrambled to keep up.

Wary of the Blood Knights opposite, Goretim the Reddish held back with his Mighty Skullcrushers. Korgachz the Beast surged forward to collect some glowing emberstone.

The Duchess Mircalla summoned a Purple Sun of Shyish - but it was quickly banished by Bob Bloodblob (Dealing the Duchess DAMAGE!)

The Skeleton Legions of the Soulblights surged forward and attacked the Judgements of Khorne, banishing them in their own violent way...

The Blood Knights cantered forward, slowly building speed.

The Vingorian Lord Consort crashed into the Blood Warriors, with Legions of Skeletons in tow!

More skeletons attacked the Blood Reavers.

The Blood Knights charged Goretim the Reddish, the Mighty Skullcrushers, AND the Korgorath. They would pay for their hubris...

The Korgorath was cut down in their charge... but the Blood Knights were utterly annihilated by their foes...

The Mighty Skullcrushers charged off after some Fell Bats that were seeking out Emberstone.

Goretim the Reddish staked a claim at one of the sites of Emberstone.

Bloodreavers and Skeletons kept fighting. For every undead warrior smashed down, another clawed itself from the earth...

The Mighty Skullcrushers rode down the Duchess and then charged the Vengorian Lord... and there, met their doom...

Goretim the Reddish rejoined the battle to aid the Blood Reavers in finishing off the Skeletons, only to be assaulted by MORE Fellbats!

With the Fellbats dealt with, Goretim the Reddish and Bob Bloodblob attacked the Vengorian Lord and fought a savage battle with them... until both sides tired and were forced to break off and retreat.

Mr. Squiggly-Wiggly, the last of the Bloodreavers held on to the store of Emberstone.

Another group of skeletons clawed their way up from the ground to reclaim the Emberstone Goretim had claimed...

This is the second game I played with Orion on Thursday, immediately after playing the Blood in the Valley scenario!

This scenario was called Rift in the Peaks and was more of a "standard" scenario with forces arrayed across from each other along the long edges of the table, and a series of Objective Markers in the middle that had to be held through out the game (1 Victory Point was awarded for each of the three objectives held at the end of each of your turns!)

It was ANOTHER loss... but in the end, I claimed FIVE Emberstone Shards! It think two of those will be used to raise Goretim the Reddish to the Elite rank on the Path of the Slaughterer, gaining the Brutal Onslaught ability (ass 1 to charge rolls!) - it's not amazing... but the next rank has a CRAZY good ability! I will save the rest - to raise either Bob Bloodbloob or Goretim the Reddish to the Mighty Rank of their Paths after the next game...

Gob Bloodblob healed the Mighty Skullcrushers, Bob Bloodblob healed the Khorgorath

I've gotten a bit behind on Game Reports - I have THREE Warhammer Quest game reports to finish up and one for a game of Bolt Action played back in OCTOBER!? Hopefully I'll get those sorted this week.

Also still working on Gossamid Archers for Amanda's Sylvaneth, but I'm not sure exactly when we'll get to play next...

Finally, this weekend is the TANKSGIVING event at the Warhammer Store - that I've been working on the Great Unclean One for... I'm not sure I'm going to survive the first turn to even HIT anything... but I'll be there and try to get some pictures of all the bit TANKS!

Path to Glory: Ravaged Coast - Blood in the Valley

Rumours of their Hordes hated foe, the Duchess Mircalla, having entered the Adamantine Chain with a retinue of her own minions had reached the ears of Goretim the Reddish. Goretim gathered the horde and prepared to march. The soulblights were despised because they shed not blood to honour Khorne, but rather greedily gorged on it for themselves themselves.

Slaughterpriest Bob Bloodblob, who had faced her before, advised caution, as the vampires were wily and could be leading them into a trap! Goretim cared not for caution and lead the Blood Siblinghood of the Slaughter-Gut-Pile through a pass in the Adamatine Chain to an adjacent valley filled with ash.

A great storm whipped down the valley filling the air with ash. Visibility was reduced to zero, but he warlord insisted the horde press one, hoping that their advance would be covered by the storm and it would be them that caught the Soulblights unawares. When the storm lifted, they found the Soulblights arrayed before them...

But the Horde was split into three separate groups.

Goretim the Reddish and the Mighty Skullcrushers of the Red Path were in the centre, but further back from the Soulblights.

On the Hordes left were the Bloodwarriors of the Red Wave.

On the Hordes right, were the Slaughterpriests and their Bloodreavers and the Khorgorath.

The Vampires of the Blood Knights mounted their steeds and charged the Blood Warriors.

The Huscarl Consort Nossos, the Vengorian Lord, flapped and shambled their way, with their fell bat pets in tow, towards Goretim and his Mighty Skullcrushers.

Duchess Mircalla and her Nulhamian Guard her their ground, but cautiously tried to recover a trover of emberstone that had been revealed by the shifting of the ash in the storm.

Other Deadwalkers advanced between the Vengorian Lord and the Bloodknights.

the Bloodknights crashed into the Blood Warriors lines! The slaughter was triumphant and the blood flowed...

though... most of it was the Blood Warriors blood...

Goretim the Reddish and he Mighty Skullcrushers charged down the Vegorian Lord and laid them low!

The Slaughterpriests on the right flank advanced cautiously with the Khorgorath and Bloodreavers before them!

The Blood Warriors fought to the last, and took a few of the Bloodknights down with them!

Bob Bloodblob summoned a pair of Hexgorger Skulls that surged towards the Soulblights, pouring boiling blood out of their giant eye-sockets and disrupting the stuff of magiks.

The warriors of Khorne crashed into the Soulblights main line, smashing apart the undead warriors before them and driving away the swarm of Fellbats.

In the distance, the Bloodknights wheeled about to charge back towards their mistress who was in a bit of distress..

The Khorgorath smashed through the lines of the undead warriors ripping and shredding with abandon... though it was eventually brought down by weight of numbers..

Duchess Mircalla eventually decided she needed to intervene herself, as the skeletal guard was collapsing and replacements could not be raised quick enough.

She slaughtered the last of the Bloodreavers.

But was left open to be charged by the Mighty Skullcrushers.

With the Hexgorger skulls hemming her in and distrupting her magiks, Duchess Mircalla had nowhere to run when the Mighty Skullcrushers charged in to ride her down!

The Bloodknights return.. but too late...

The Bloodknights arrive to find the Mighty Skullcrushers lined up and ready for them.

The Bloodknights retreated and the Mighty Skullcrushers rode down the last of the skeletal guard.

The Bloodknights charged PAST the Mighty Skull crushers to ride down the Slaughterpriests.

And in turn, the Mighty Skullcrushers rode crashed into the Bloodknights and trampled them into the dirt...

This was an odd scenario. Once again, there were no objective locations to hold throughout the game, the winner was decided by whoever had the most units left in the Neutral areas of the battlefield (neither sides deployment areas)... I knew there was little chance that was going to happen, as the undead can just keep coming back... in the end the game ended at round four, with two units of undead (skeletons and Fellbats) in neutral territories. All I had left on the table were the Mighty Skullcrushers... Perhaps if I'd had a few more rounds, I could have chased them down...? Probably not... The bats could just keep flying away.

I only gained TWO Emberstone Shards this game - one for losing (rolled 1 on d3) and on that the Mighty Skullcrushers carried at the end of the game. Orion's Soulblights scored FIVE - three for winning and one for each unit remaining that also carried one that had been recovered from the field.

We had time, so we set up a SECOND game. I'll do that as a separate game report.

I spent my two Emberstone Shards on raising Bob Bloodblob to the Elite Rank on the Path of the Invoker.

Orion spent her Emberstone on gaining an Endless spell in her arcane tome and her faction terrain.

Half of the scenarios I've played in this campaign, so far, have not had Objective markers... which kind of makes my Battle Formation kind of not-so-useful - as it gives all the bloodbound +1 to hit any enemy contesting an objective that the Bloodbound do not control... Guess I should have read through the scenarios and thought that through! Also, it doesn't help Daemons at all, if I started adding any of those... and I'll probably have to start adding those if I progress much further in the campaign, as I don't have much more Bloodbound (at least not PAINTED ones - I do have another ten Blood Warriors and THIRTY Bloodreavers... but I'm far more interested in painting Maggotkin and Sylvaneth at the moment...).
