Work-in-Progress Wedensday - 25 December 2024

Happy Christmas to all who celebrate (and I hope all of the rest of you are having an equally fabulous day!) We're going to play another game of Warhammer Quest today... but I have gotten a little painting in this week.

I got a fair bit done in the past week... I finished up the last of the Cursed City Heroes; Octren Glimscry and Cleona Zeitengale, then I also finished up the second-to-last of the Cursed City hostiles; Gorslav the Gravekeeper, and finally a Chaos Sorcerer Lord

First I cracked the Arcane Cataclysm box that Santa gave me...

I assembled, based and primed the Cursling from the box...

As well as a few of the Tzaangor on the Discs of Tzeentch. I assembled one as a Tzaangor Enlighted and the other two as Tzaangor Skyfires.

I also assembled and primed the three Screamers of Tzeentch

The Tzaangor and Screamers are needed for the next session of the Soulbound Role-Playing Game, which is next Tuesday! If I got those done this coming week I would be very happy!

Of course, all of the Sylvaneth and Nighthaunt I ALSO wanted to finish up by the end of the year are still on the workbench... not so sure I'll finish these now...

There is still Torgillius the Chamberlain and the two Gibbet Mysterious Objects - the last three miniatures for Cursed City - still haunting the workbench. Having looked at the Encounter Cards and found Torgillius doesn't ever show up until Level Two (and only half of the Heroes have even made it to Level One!) and I've been making good use of all the Hellboy terrain features as Mysterious Objects... so I'm not in as big of a rush to finish these...

I DID do some work on the Darkoath Warqueen... even if it was just undercoating her skin!

And now some Goblins and Squigs have made their way back onto the table - as they'll be needed in some upcoming sessions of Soulbound...!

I have a GAME PLAN post coming up at the end of the Month that detail the miniatures I'm hoping to get done over the next few months. Generally, the plan is to work on anything needed for the Soulbound game, and when there isn't something immediately needed, I'm going to focus on assembling and painting the Soulblight Gravelords and Slaves to Darkness armies! (and maybe finishing up the Nighthaunts and Sylvaneth, if I fail to finish them up by the end of the year!?)

What's everyone else working on this week!?

Did Santa bring you any goodies!?

Work-in-Progress Wedensday - 18 December 2024

I have worked on painting a FEW miniatures this week... I finished up Qlathis and Dagnai Holdenstock, and a Stormvermin, and the Darkoath Chieftan on the Warsteed, and then in the last few days I finished up five Spite-Revenants.

But other than that, I haven't really been working on a lot of other things, miniature-wise... Like stuff that's still "in-progress" that have actually been worked on this past week... because the stuff I'd worked on mostly got finished up!?

Also, Staples FINALLY (after THREE AND A HALF WEEKS!!) finished printing the pdf cards for the new edition of Warhammer Underworlds and I've busied myself since Friday cutting, and gluing fronts and backs of fighter and warscroll cards together for a number of my favourite factions (that I have cards for...) and a few others besides.

These are the ones I've finished...

But there are PLENTY more to do!!!

Loads of things still on the workbench... I've done a bit or work on a few of them...

Octren Glimscry,  Cleona Zeitengale, Torgillius the Chamberlain, and Gorslav the Gravekeeper  (all of which I'd hoped to finish for Warhammer Quest TONIGHT!)!

Octern and Cleona are VERY close to being finished... I still might get them done!!

Two really, REALLY old Citadel Miniatures that I've had for-EVAR... I can't remember if I ever finished painting them... or if I had, but stripped them years ago to repaint..? I think they're both from the Talisman line of miniatures and they're getting painted (or, repainted) now to use as NPCs in our Soulbound game!

Chaos Sorcerer Lord got a bit of work done this past week... hopefully finish up this coming week!?

Finnegan's Tzangors (from Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower) have snuck their way back onto the workbench - largely because I may need them for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound next week! I tried using a heavy drybrushing for the lighter blue, thinking it would be quiker and it looks awful... so I'll have to re-do the darker undercoat on that one and try to do a better job. I'm not in quite as much of a rush as I thought I'd be now, so, I can take my time...

As ever, there is just SO MUCH other stuff crowding he workbench that HASN'T been actively worked on in the last week(s)...

Like SOOOO MUCH STUFF...

Like everywhere, all over... it's a bit much, really!

This week, I'll likely work on the Tzangors and then the last of the Sylvaneth and Nighthaunts... at some point I'd like to work in a few Warhammer Underworlds warbands that have been half-painted for far too long (Starblood Stalkers and Gorechosen of Dromm)

I guess there are only two weeks left in the year!? If I could get the last two Warhammer Quest Hostiles, the Tzangors and the Sylvaneth and Nighthaunts all done by the end of the year, I'd be pretty happy. (I'd be even happier if I could finish up Dromm and the Starblood Stalkers!)

Then in the new year, I'd like to assemble all of the rest of the Soulblight Gravelords and ALL THE DARKOATH (and other Slaves to Darkness stuff) and get the two Spearhead armies finished and then flesh them out to larger Path to Glory forces.

Work-in-Progress Wednesday - 11 December 2024

Well I got a lot finished up this past week... Ylthari's Guardians, a Hunter, a Duelist and a Dog, Vlad and Isabella Von Carstien, a few Endless Spells, and Lady Annika and Kritza!?

There are a few other things I've finished up, but not yet posted!

What else have I been working on but not-quite-yet finished...?

Skaven Stormvermin - the Free Miniature-of-the-Month for December!

Provisionally Prepared Ratling Sniper Team

Sylvaneth - I've definitely done a bit of work on the Spite-Revenants, and maybe a bit on the Tree-Revenants...? The Spite-Revenant in front is done, but I won't make a post until I finish the unit. I put a bit of a rush on that one because I'll be using it for Amanda's character in our game of Soulbound!

Slaves to Darkness - Darkoath Chieftain on Warsteed, Darkoath War Queen, Chaos Sorcerer Lord. I assembled the War Queen - and am feeling like I want to just assembled ALL THE DARKOATH.... but I kind of also feel like I really want to get some of the stuff ON the workbench, finished, and OFF the workbench, before I go assembling more stuff...

The Chieftan on the Warsteed is SO CLOSE to being done... I think I just need to do the blanket on the back of his saddle and the cheiftan's hair and the hair of all the heads hanging from his saddle!?

I also finished the Chaos Lord on the Daemonic steed... I just haven't posted about it yet. I was holding off because I wanted to get some of the background fluff for the force - and their leader - typed out... but maybe I should just get the pictures up and worry about a post detailing the story behind my Slaves to Darkness some other time - when I have more time to get it all written out properly!

Warhammer Quest: Cursed City Heroes and villains! I really, REALLY NEED to finish these up this week!!!

the Emberwatch for Warhammer Underworlds: Embergard.

There are a LOT of other things on the workbench... but these are the things I've actually done SOME work on this past week and am likely to finish up this coming week.

I think the PRIORITY for the upcomign week should be:

#1 - Warhammer Quest Heroes and Villains (and a couple of tokens!) there are only four heroes and two adversaries and two or four tokens...? NEED to get those DONE this week!

#2 - I'd like to finish up the Sylvaneth and Nighthaunt stuff... there are ten sylvaneth (Spite-Revenants and five Tree-Revenants) and maybe ten Nighthaunt (five Craventhrone Guard, four Banshees, and the Scriptor Mortis). Most of these are at least half done and won't take much to finish up.

Other than the Warhammer Quest stuff, there really isn't anything pressing at the moment, so I'd really like to focus and finish these up because it finishes off both collections and will free up a LOT of real estate on the workbench!! Then I will be free to assemble ALL THE CHAOS STUFF!!!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday - 4 December 2024

I've been feeling a little bored by the Work-In-Progress Wednesdays over the last few weeks... or even months...? It's been feeling less like "Work-In-Progress Wednesdays" and more like "What's-On-the-Workbench-and-NOT-being-Worked-On Wednesdays" Where I just keep posting remarkably similar photos of the same miniatures that HAVEN'T actually had any work done on them in the last week (or MONTH!?).

So here is a shorter series of pics of stuff I've actually been working on! (there is still LOADS of the same stuff crowding the workbench that I've been taking pictures of for the last few months!)

I have been working on some bases for miniatures I'm planning to assemble in the next bit - mostly Chaos/Darkoath Marauders and the Corvus Cabal miniatures I picked up on the weekend.

Speaking of miniatures picked up on the weekend...

I assembled and started on the Provisionally Prepared Ratling Sniper team. I don't often paint things in parts and then assemble... but this one seemed like I should... there have been more and more miniatures lately that I've felt, if I had the patience, it probably would have been smarter to assemble parts and paint them before putting the the whole thing together...

I also assembled and started painting Lady Annika and Kritza the Rat Prince... even though I won't be needing them for MONTHS, likely... and did NOT work on ANY of the Warhammer Quest heroes that I probably could have used this evening!?

I also started on the Slaves to Darkness Endless spells I picked up over the weekend... which is super smart, considering I don't really have any Slaves to Darkness miniatures... other than Khagra's Ravager's and Hargax's Pit Beasts...

This is the Darkfire Daemonrift... I was trying to make purple flames... Not sure it's really working... The base and miniature on these are not yet attached as I realized it would probably work out better for these if I painted them separately and then attached - as both parts would require a fair bit of drybrushing and if they were attached it would mean and endless loop of going back and fixing bits that I'd accidentally got the dry brushing colour of one on the other... ugh... it's workedout pretty well working on the parts separately... not sure if I'm loving the purple flames though...

The Realmscourge Rupture is coming along... starting to feel like these might have done well to paint separately too... ah, well...

The Eightfold Doom-Sigil... I was thinking of doing pink or blue flames on this... but considering how the purple flame on the Darkfire Daemonrift, I may just do regular red/orange/yellow flame...

Maybe that's the problem... regular flames are red and orange and yellow... the purple flames are just purple of different values... the monotone just isn't as interesting? I'm not sure purple/blue/green flames would really work though. Maybe if it was for a Tzeentch-leaning army... but my Slaves to Darkness I always imagined allied to the Hedonites of Slaanesh - my first chaos army...

I've also, finally done some work on one of the other Slaanesh Endless Spells: the Dreadful Visage! It is very nearly done...

There are still the same Warhammer Underworlds Warbands on the workbench... and the last of the Sylvaneth and Nighthaunts... and more tokens and heroes and villains for Warhammer Quest: Cursed City... And a smattering of Slaves to Darkness Heroes and cavalry... hopefully I'll get to them at some point!?

What are YOU working on this week!?

let me know in the comments!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday - 27 November 2024

With the last of the ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY minis done for Cursed City... and no other things that I feel like I NEED to get done for any particular event... I feel like things are about to shift about on the work bench.

There are a few things left to finish up for Cursed City - Torgillius the Chamberlain and Gorslav the Gravekeeper to finish up the hostiles.... The Gravestones and Gibbet markers... four more of the Heroes that came with the box (and Morrvahl Olbrect... If we decide to use him...) I should have most of those finished up for next week!

(I did not scrub all the paint off my workbench or take pictures in another location... I was feeling like the paint on the workbench was getting a bit distracting, so I brought a sheet of paper to lay on the workbench - just for the pictures...)

There are still some Slaves to Darkness things lurking on the desk, that now I feel like I'll have some time to concentrate on, though none of it is pressing. I've kind of written off playing in the current Path to Glory campaign at the Warhammer Store and planning for maybe running one myself in the new year...

There are a few other things working their way back onto the workbench, largerly because there are SO FEW I need to finish up for that whole collection to be DONE!!!

Nighthaunts. Only things I need to finish up are The Scriptors Mortis, The Craventhrone Guard, and some Myrmourn Banshees... and that's IT! Ten models!! And relatively easy to paint models!!

(Oh, I technically have ONE OTHER group of Nighthaunts to do; The Headsman's Curse Warhammer Underworlds warband! they're in a storage box... somewhere in the painting room... I should probably get them out to finish up with the rest of these!!)

Sylvaneth. All I have left to paint for these are Ylthari's Guardians and five Tree-Revenants and five Spite-Revenants. I'm extra motivated to get these done as Ylthari's guardians look like they might be fun to play in the new Warhammer Underworlds and Amanda is playing a Spite-Revenant in the new Age of Sigmar: Soulbound role-playing game that we all just make characters for last night!?

I'd like to get these Seekers and Hellstriders back on the workbench to finish up in the not-to-distant future... they're also close and will make some fun options for the Hedonites!

STILL hoping to get back to playing Warhammer Underworlds and maybe try out some of THESE warbands! Zikit's Tunnelpack was removed from the workbench and put in temporary nearby storage along with the other two Skaven warbands still to paint...

Ugh... these guys... Also so close to finishing...

Another assortment of characters and heroes... The fellow in the front with the pistol and torch might be the first priority as Finnegan is playing a Witch Hunter in the Soulbound game and I thought that might be a fun miniature to use... I think I have a Witch Hunter had somewhere I could use... or model one... or just keep it as is, not ALL Witch Hunters HAVE to wear that iconic tall hat with the wide bring, do they...?

Which will I ACTUALLY get done by next week!?

I don't know... probably the Warhammer Quest stuff...

After that? Maybe anything I need for Soulbound? The Witch Hunter and Spite-Revenant... (and, while I'm at it, ALL THE SYLVANETH!?)

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON THIS WEEK!?

Work-in-Progress Wednesday - 20 November 2024

Every week... I sit down to do this...

and this is what my painting desk looks like

and over to the left...

and the bit on the right...

I don't even want to show you the stuff piled up on the floor around it or on the shelves behind...

It's a MESS!

But I do this as it FORCES me to tidy up that mess a bit and reevaluate what I'm doing and think about what I SHOULD be doing and hopefully keep myself focused and on track... it doesn't always work...

Looking at these pictures, I started feeling like these all look pretty much the same as they did last week!? What did I even do!? but then I looked back on my blog and saw I'd finished up Jelsen Darrock and three Vyrkos Blood-Born and THE VARGSKYR!? And they were a lot of work!

So this week...

Most recently, I started assembling the miniatures from Embergard. The Stormcast Eternal Embergard are assembled (above)...

and I've STARTED assembling the Skaven... which are a huge pain in the ass and I am NOT looking forward to trying to paint these...

I also have these three other Warhammer Underworlds warbands lingering on the desktop... I think only the seraphon saw any work done on them this past week.

Having played Emberwatch on Saturday and seen Sunday's announcement that the Warbands of Emberwatch card expansion (which will include Warscrolls and fighter cards for two of these warbands) will be out on 7 December, I now have a deadline to try and get these done by... They probably won't see a lot of work THIS week, as I have a more pressing deadline!

Next week we will be starting Warhammer Quest: Cursed City and I will need these ZOMBIES finished!!

(We finished up Warhammer Quest: Shadows Over Hammerhal last night, and I just remembered I did not finish the game report last night! So I shall have to finish that up after I complete this post!)

I will also need these rats!

I might also need some of these...!? I'm not 100% sure what most of these are for, to tell you the truth... I've READ the rules and I've seen no mention of Diregoyles or the undead cats or the gravemarkers... unless they're ALL just optional Mysterious Object markers? Maybe they turn up in Crises or Events - I have NOT read through all of those!

I don't NEED any of these Heroes, as I have four done.. but I will probably try to get at least two more done for next week (Dagnai Holdenstock and Qulathis the Exile)... just... because...

Other things lurking on the desktop

These three random heroes/adventurerers...

Saviours of Cinderfall... just need to finish up the Gryph-Hound and Girlz...

A smattering of Slaves to Darkness stuff... I will probably switch gears once I finish up the Cursed City stuff and start working on these again. As with the Warbands of Embergard, the new Slaves to Darkness Battletome and Darkoath Spearhead army will be released on 7 December and that's getting me pretty excited about getting to work on these!

I STILL have all these Nighthaunt miniatures kicking around on the desk... I just can't put them back into storage... there are only these ten left to finish off ALL THE NIGHTHAUNTS!? I even did a little work on these, this past week - all the rusted metal on the Craventhrone Guard!

Maybe after the Warhammer Quest stuff is done, before I get to into the Slaves to Darkness stuff,  I just need to focus on these for a day or two and get them all DONE!!!

Oh... I guess I DID get distracted by ANOTHER rebasing project and that took up a lot of time and space this past week... but have since been moved OFF of the workbench for the time being... I just need to do some flocking on the painted ones!

So... for this coming week... The priority really NEEDS to be those fucking zombies that i just don't want to paint... but NEED to paint... and the rats. Maybe a Hero or two. and/or Gorslav the Gravekeeper!

What have YOU been working on this past week?

What are YOUR hobby priorities for the next week or so!?
