February Games... and stuff... (Part The Second)

Wow... we played a LOT more games this month... well... compared to LAST month!?

You can see the games we played in the first half of the month here:

February Games... and stuff... (Part One)

London again.

I think we broke it...

I mean, I love this game, but, yeah... There is so much that just doesn't work for just two players.

I found the last few games poverty was just a non-issue. Because we both had ten Boroughs, and always less stacks, we were always getting rid of piles of poverty EVERY round and never accumulating it. We tried starting with more - FIFTEEN, instead of FIVE!? And it STILL wasn't even a problem. With ten Boroughs and no poverty you can just build these engines of cards that never flip and just keep Running City over and over and over again and just accumulating more and more and MORE money and points and... it gets to a point where the game could just go on for-EVAR because no one is picking up cards and depleting the deck that triggers game end!?

Fire Brigade can be awful in a 3- player game - but a bit of a leveller if someone is getting ahead - when you run that card mid-game-ish in a 3 or four player game, that's 3-4 ounds the opponents have to cough up to the bank... with a two-player game, I had to pay TEN - which seemed like it would be awful... but... I recovered, I guess.

I like London, but I think we'll have to wait until we can play with three or four before we play this again. Maybe some of these problems have been addressed in the new edition... but... I just can't bring myself to shell out the money for it when I already have this one... and... well... SO MANY OTHER GAMES!?

So... maybe if the kids could ever be talked into it... or.. if the pandemic ever ends.

Saturday, 21 February 2021

Saturday evening we made characters for Age of Sigmar: Soulbound. Finnegan is playing a Khanite Hag Priestess, Jon is playing an Idoneth Deepkin Soulreaver, Woody is playing a Black Arc Corsair, and Chris is playing a human bard. Randy, who wasn't able to join us will be a Stormcast Eternal.

Out early with Amanda to picked up (vegan) Ice Cream Cake from Fable Ice Cream AND donuts from Darkside Donuts!?! Woo!

said ice cream cake and donuts

Also picked up a FEAST from Seasoned Fusion Tastes

lunch with the family - followed by GAMES with the family. I can't remember when I was able to convince ALL of them to sit down together to play a game. I feel like it was when we played Hellboy the Board Game over the Holidaze at the end of 2019!? Originally we'd discussed playing Firefly - as we haven't in a long time and it seemed the one that Keira was most interested in... but on the day, I had a huge headache and anxious about the evening's game and decided it would probably be better if we just played a few shorter games.

We started off with a round of Splendor...

Which I actually WON!? A rare treat indeed... they probably LET me win... because they're feeling sad to this old guy...

Next we played Carcassonne (with Traders & Builders and Inns & Cathedrals). Finnegan won this one, but it was all very close in the end - I think everyone was within a dozen point spread...?

Finally we played a game of Dominion, which I feel like I haven't played in for-EVAR!? (According to BGG it was just last year in JUne... the time before that was 2019 in June... and the time before THAT was in 2018... in July... so... not a regular one to hit out table...)

counting up the points Amanda, Finnegan, and I had a THREE-WAY TIE with 26 points each!? WE all anxiously waited for Keira to count hers up - as we were going to have a great laugh if she ALSO had 26 (and Amanda was going to proclaim victory, as we'd looked up the tie-breaker, which is whoever had taken the least number of turns) but Keira ended up with 32 points!

We's also talked about playing Race for the Galaxy - which was, for a long time, a family favourite... but we just didn't have the time. I still had stuff to prepare for the evening...

And CAKE to eat!!!

It was delicious.

After a lighter supper and the ice cream cake Jon and Chris joined me and Finnegan to kick off our Warhammer: Age of Sigmar: SOULBOUND role-playing game campaign! Before getting going, though we had to finish up a few background things...

Randy was able to join in a bit later... later though he was, we'd really only just gotten going. I was running the Crash and Burn beginner adventure (available free on Drive-Thru RPG) - and have a few more adventrues lined up when they make it to Brightspear... er... IF they make it to Brightspear!?

Friday, 26 February 2021

Friday games continued. I'd almost forgot - although Amanda taking (most of) the day off on Thursday completely threw me off and it ended up feeling like a Saturday... but then Friday ended up feeling like Sunday... or... maybe another Saturday?! My rhythms were all off!?

Finnegan was playing Four Against Darkness with some friend online and Keira had a new book from the library to read, so Amanda and I sat down to play London again.

It was more out of habbit, at this point. I think both of us are getting a bit SICK of it as a two player game. We tried it with some new house rules this week - again using 15 poverty to start (instead of 5 - it was still NO TROUBLE at all to get rid of it all by the end of the game in a two player game... probably because - compared to a 4-player - you have twice as many turns to play and twice the poverty deleting ability of having double the number of Burroughs...) AND this time we instituted a new rule that said you cannot do the Run City action two times in a row... and no duplicates of non-flipping cards in your tableau (i.e. you can have BOTH omnibusses in your city display!)

Amanda won the game 137-122. All game she'd been complaining about how poorly she was doing and how I was "Rocking" the game... and then beat me by 15 points.

After the game, because it was early (because she'd actually STOPPED work on time - and we're playing the game much quicker now!) she suggested we play ONE MORE TIME - because we are gluttons for punishment... and that would fulfill the challenge - having played it 5 times in Q1 (and then we could move on to play... SOMETHING ELSE!!!)

This one I edged out a victory - 115-111 - but only because I burried the other omnibus and thus Amanda didn't end the game with ALL the money and was, in fact, not able to pay off one of her loans - losing her 7 VP (and another was lost to to pverty generated by holding two cards at the end of the game!)

Whew! DONE with that one. I do like it. I can see why they did a second edition. I's still totally play it with four players.

I'd planned to play Age of Sigmar: Soulbound on Saturday, but wasn't feeling well and had to cancel at the last minute.

Sunday, 28 February 2021

Finnegan was busy with math homework that he's fallen a bit behind on, so Amanda played a game of Warhammer Underworlds with me. She played Morgwaeth's Blade-Coven and I played Garrek's Reavers. Morgwaeth's remains undefeated in the Beastgrave!

I'll probably post a full game report tomorrow.

THE 5x5 QUARTERLY CHALLENGE (so far...)

So far this Quarter, I have played the following games:

  • Kingdom Builder x8
  • London x5
  • Warhammer Underworlds: Direchasm x5
  • HârnMaster (3rd Edition) x3
  • Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound x2
  • Carcassonne Big Box 2 x1
  • Dominion x1
  • Splendor x1
  • Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Warcry x1

So... Three of five completed. I expect I'll get in 4 more games of Soulbound through March... Initially I'd thought Warcry would be number five... but I may have to change that to something else. Maybe Amanda and i will find a different board game to play on Friday evenings...? Or maybe I'll just say we'll play TEN games of WArhammer Underworlds - counting it as two choices in the 5x5x

February Games... and stuff... (Part One)

Well... we are getting in a lot more games this month! (Compared to January). So much so, that I thought I might break this month's update into two!

The first week of February I picked up a few early birthday presents for myself....

My FLGS (Dragon's Den Games) had like FIVE of each of these old Nightvault Warbands (which are actually the two warbands that were originally included in SHADESPIRE core set, reboxed as individual warbands for Nightvault?) and somehow I talked them into giving me a killer deal on them!!! I am thinking I will totally run this for ToonCon at SOME point...  when there IS a ToonCon again... (or host a WArhammer Underworlds weekend campaign... or BOTH!) but there is ZERO chance I'm going to bring Morgwaeth's Blade-Coven or Skaeth’s Wild Hunt or any of these spindly, fragile warbands to a learn-to-play game and have some ham-handed brute break my $50 warband... (like they did my Blackstone Fortress figures!). So, I got some super cheap ,older ones that are SUPER CHUNKY and SOLID to use as loaner warbands!

Because I "think ahead" like that...

(Like a moron)...

This falls under: "It seemed like a good idea at the time"...

I also picked up Champions of Dreadfane and Khagra's Ravagers and some other stuff. I picked up the Castigators because the Champions of Dreadfane included a group of Sequitors - and both are part of the Stormcast Eternals Sacrosanct Chamber and could be used together in a Warcry warband... which reminds me... missing from this picture is the Warcry Bringers of Death Book - the last of the four Grand Alliance books for Warcry - now I have them all! MWA-HA-HA-Ha-Ha-ha-ha-haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

This kind of threw a wrench into the original painting plan for February... Despite Myari's Purifier's being partly painted... I kind of wanted to PAINT ALL THESE before getting back to them!?

We tidied up a little corner of the upstairs the first week of February - as Amanda was doing a thing for an online conference the UofS was hosting, and she didn't want to look like she was presenting from a trash heap. While it was all tidied up, I thought I'd take a little "Shelfie". This is my Graphic Novel book shelf. Yep. Those are all comics. I've kind of run out of space, though... not sure if it's time to cull the collection.. or BUILD MORE SHELVES!?

All of the history and game books are mostly in boxes and will go on shelves in the basement Game Room... y'know... whenever that gets finished...

Friday, 5 February 2021

Amanda agreed to play board games with me on Friday evenings - and agreed to try and play five games of Kingdom Builder and London over the next two months. The first Friday of the month (the 5th), we played BOTH!

We started with Kingdom Builder and somehow convinced Finnegan to join us!

We were playing with Hermits, Lords, and Discoverers.

I ended the game - running out of settlements first.

But Finnegan (black) just crushed it!

after that, Amanda and I played London. I like London. I like every Martin Wallace game I've played - which certainly isn't ALL of them... but I have played a few.

I did win this one... but I had a feeling that after a few more games, Amanda will figure it out, and i'd never win again!

We also started watching The Expanse, Season Five on that Friday.

Saturday, 6 February 2021

Saturday we continued the Harnworld adventure Chris had started the week before, at the end of January. Our group got into a fight. I bashed a guys head in with my club. That was about it.

(and then, another episode of The Expanse)

Sunday, 7 February 2021

Finnegan also agreed to play Warcry or Warhammer Underworlds on Sunday evenings with me through the rest of Q1. I thought we should start with Warhammer Underworlds, while it was still, relatively fresh in our heads...

Finnegan decided he wanted to swithc things up and try out Morgwaeth's Blade-Coven... and utterly destroyed the Dread Pageant with them! A Full report of the game (and loads more pictures!) can be found here:

Warhammer Underworlds: Direchasm - Game Two

Friday, 12 February 2021

Had another board game evening on Friday...

That's Amanda's Look of Serious Concentration.

We started with Kingdom builder - with played with Merchants, Citizens, and Workers victory cards and the Oracle, Barn, Paddock, and Farm boards. I finished, but Amanda totally won - largely because she did a good job of keeping ALL of her settlements as one big winding line and surrounded a few locations.

It went quicker - but we were just playing with two.

Afterwards we played London again, as well. This went a bit quicker - mostly because we're remembering more now. Amanda seems to have groked it... She had this crazy engine going where she all these cards that didn't flip and gave her PILES of money and points each turn - and we each had ten Burroughs, so poverty wasn't a concern - and she just sat there and did the Run City action and amassed piles and piles of cash and points.

Like ALL the cash. By the end we'd run out of the £5 coins. You score 1 point per three £ at the end of the game... she scored 45 points!? So over £135... !? I'm lucky to end the game with £13 (though I think I ended THIS game with about £20. She's ended the game without ANY money and uable to pay off loans (-7 VP per loan)

It's WAY easier to do well in the game with only two players. Three or four makes it MUCH more competitive and cutthroat - and HARD.

Saturday, 13 February 2021

Sometimes... Amanda just gets a bee in her bonnet.

Today, that be was Kingdom Builder.

I'm not sure if it was just that she had so much fun playing it the night before...? Or if it was that she wasn't sure how she ended up winning and wanted to see if she could do it again. Regardless, just after lunch she asked if I wanted to play another game, and I said "Sure!"

WE ended up playing on the Tower, Harbour, Barn, and Oracle boards with the Citizens, Hermits, and Discoverers victory cards... and I ended up winning... 53-33...

So she said, let's do it again...

In the next game we played with the Oracle, Farm, Barn, and Oasis boards, with the Lords, Merchants and Knights victory cards... and I won that one, 74-67. She scored higher and tightened the gap.

She said "Best two out of three?" and i said "I've already won two...!?" and she said "you know what I mean - I want to see if I can win one". I said "okay..."

I didn't get a picture of Game Three.  We played with the Paddock, Harbour, Oasis and Barn boards, and the Hermits, Knights, and Merchants victory cards.... and I won that one 75-32!?

Then she had a zoom-quiz-get-together-thingie with her folks and relatives in England, who are all in LOCKDOWN!

Afterwards, she asked if I was up for another game... and I asked if SHE was up for another game and she said YES!!! (Bee + Bonnet)

We played with the Paddocks, Oasis, Tower, and Oracle boards, and the Merchants, Lords, and Hermits victory cards.... and... um.... 89-54...

"ONE MORE?! Before your game?!"

"why not..."

This final game with played with all the boards we didn't use in the previous game (so, Harbour, Tavern, Farm, and Barn) and Citizens, Knights, and Workers. And AMANDA WON! 80-67!? WOOO!

(Okay, at that point, I ended up helping her with a LOT of her moves... but whatevs... fun was had!)

So... that was FIVE games of Kingdom Builder in ONE DAY - I can check THAT off my Quarterly 5x5 challenge list!

Later in the evening...

We were scheduled to play one more game of Harnworld this week... but Chris wasn't feeling up to it... so we got together for a chat on Discord and I'd thought maybe we'd start making characters, or at least talking about AGe of Sigmar: Soulbound... but we didn't really get to that. Next week. For SURES.

Sunday, 14 February 2021

Because we are gluttons for punishment, Amanda suggested ONE MORE game of Kingdom Builder...

We played with the Barn, Farm, Paddock and Oracle boards, with the Knights, Hermits, Citizens victory cards.

AND Amanda totally won this one - without even any help from me!

Well... not much.... She did finally pick up on how to do things a little better and played a pretty solid game. Woo!

later, just befoer supper, finnegan and i got in a game of Warhammer Underworlds: Direchasm. Tried out the new Khorne Bloodreavers warband. It was a pretty one-sided slaughter...

You can see more pictures and read the complete Game Report here:

Warhammer Underworlds: Direchasm - Game Three

Monday, 15 February 2021

the 15th was the Family Day long weekend in Saskatchewan and still crazy-cold out. It has been a tradition that we play games on Family Day for the last few year. The kids are less interested in playing games this year, but I did manage to talk Amanda into giving Warhammer Underworlds a try...

She played Morgwaeth's Blade-Coven and I played the Dread Pageant.

Morgwaeth's Remains unbeaten!

Teh Game took a little longer, having to explain and reexplain everything to Amanda. She did say she'd play again and expected it would take less time as she was finally, at the end of the game, starting to cotton on to what was going on.

There will be a full game report (with lots more pictures) in the next day or so!

Wow... what a month so far! Lots of games - and looking forward to lots more! Amanda is committed to playing boardgames every Friday evening (and fitting in a few more here and there). Finnegan is still keen to play Warhammer Underworlds (or Warcry on Sunday evenings). I'll be starting up Age of Sigmar: Soulbound next Saturday - and we have an EXTRA session planned for my birthday the following Thursday - as well as a few games with the family in the afternoon! Stay tuned!

November Games - Part Two

Yikes... what happened to November? What happened to this YEAR!?

Played a few games in the First Half of the Month, The last two weeks... less so...

Friday, 20 November 2020

On Friday, Kurtis came over for pizza and games... but he brought his own pizza.

We started off with a game of London - I had suggested it, because I haven't played it in a long time. Took a while to re-figure-out the strategy... or at least A strategy. I did well on keeping poverty down throughout the game. Kurtis had had a PILE, but in the last few rounds had structures that eliminated almost all of it!? We actually ran out of Underground tokens as he was able to put so many of them in play and that kind of won him the game right there! It took Amanda a few MORE turns than Kurtis and I to get a rhythm going and was constantly trying to catch up.

I really like London. Wish I could play it more.

After that we played a couple rounds of Monarch. In the first I ended up fling the banner of Might, Amanda had Bounty and Kurtis had Culture. In the second game, just to switch things up, I went with Culture, Amanda took Might and Kurtis flew the banner of Wisdom. I ended up wining both games (more because of luck than any solid strategy!?) .

Saturday, 21 November 2020

On Saturday we finished off the Fated Accelerated game I'd started the week before... except Christian wasn't able to make it... and Chris was, but he'd missed out on what had happened the week before and was a bit lost!

The game was set on Mercury in the not-too-distant future. Bit of a mystery/thriller/conspiracy adventure as the players were trying to figure out what the hell was going on around them and who they could trust.

Saturday 28 November 2020

Only Jon and Chris were able to make it out to RPG night, and I had very little prepared, so I convinced Finnegan to run a quick game of Four Against Darkness for us - I played Gronq the Barbarian (who worships Croq - God of Ugly but Comfortable Footwear), Jon played a Cleric Named Felquis, and Chris played Lief Qjingleberries (the "Q" is silent) an Elf. We also had a halfling named Quincy following us along, basically to carry a lantern for us, so we could see the rooms and corridors of the dungeon we were bashing. We fought some hobgolbins, rats and bats a couple ogres and a troll. It was a pretty fun, light game and I'm glad I finally got around to trying it out.

Finnegan has pretty much ALL of the Four Against Darkness stuff - including a few that aren't released (as he is helping with play-testing and proofreading/editing) - and just loves the game. Seems like we will have no trouble recruiting him to run more games if we are without players - or a game to play - on any Saturday night in the future!

Just thirty-one days left in the year (and Q4)!

I never really did come up with a plan for the fourth quarter...

If I were to retroactively pick out five games to play five times - just to keep up with THAT part of the plan, I'd probably go with Fate Accelerated (as I've played six games of THAT already!), Century: Golem Edition – Eastern Mountains (we've played four - I'm sure we could get ONE MORE game in during December) 4 and then Azul, Carcassonne, Codenames: Pictures or Monarch (we've played two of each). Four Against Darkness could just as easily go on the list, I'm sure Finnegan would JUMP at the opportunity to run more games of that!

Little has moved ahead with the renovation as my FINGER IS STILL BROKEN - went for an x-ray last week (or... the end of the week before..?) and through I haven't heard back from my doctor, we could see the results online and it said there was still a visible fracture... I've also sprained my LCL (ligament on the outside of the knee) and THAT feel like its taking for-EVAR to heal!? GAH!?

I've still done no painting of miniatures... though I did get a lot of other painting done this month

Probably be back in a couple weeks with an update. Hope everyone is safe and healthy. Things are going sideways here. New Covid-19 cases are just spiralling out of control. Despite so many examples of best practices in so many other places that seem to have it under control, the prairie provinces just seem to want ignore other places success stories to learn how awful pandemics can be the hard way...

September Game-A-Day Challenge: Week Four

The last week the game-a-day thing was wearing a bit thin - oh we made it, we've played a different game each day of the month so far!

The remaining two days are the first two days of ToonCon (which I'll have a separate post about on Sunday) where we will be playing another half dozen or so games...

But this last week, for various reasons, we pulled out all the super quick games and were trying to squeeze games in between different activities or just before bed...

Day 23 - Saturday, 23 September 2017 - Warhammer:40K/Timeline: Historical Events

In the afternoon on Saturday we finished off the game of Warhammer 40,000 (8th Edition) we'd started the evening before - a full report of that game can be found here:

First Crack At 40K 8th

Because, technically, that was a continuation of the previous day's game, we'd decided we should play another. Originally we'd planned to play through Pax Renaissance, but then got watching Heroes Season One and everyone seemed more interested in watching more episodes of that than playing Pax Renaissance....

...so, between two episodes, we quickly got out Timeline: Historical Events and played a quick game of that. I won. I pretty much always do. We went back to watching Heroes.

I don't win the game because I know more about history that everyone else in the family... okay, I DO know more about history than everyone else in the family, and it is a significant factor in me winning all the time, but I also play smart - I always do the hardest ones first and leave the easier ones - the ones that I DO know the exact date for for last, which seems to be the opposite of what everyone else does. For example, I have no idea when the Mutiny on the Bounty was... I would guess between 1600 and 1800... so I'd try to get that our first before there are other 17th and 18th centre cards out there. When the only other cards out are the Roman invasion of Britain and the Beginning of World War One... well, it's going between those!

Day 24 - Sunday, 24 September 2017 - Pax Renaissance

FINALLY we got to playing through Pax Renaissance. I'm running a Learn-To-Play event for this at ToonCon this weekend and, while I've played it a fair bit this year, it's been a couple or so since I last played. So I wanted a chance to brush up on the rules and have them fresh in my head for this weekend. I also wanted an opportunity to try explaining the rules to people that had never played and, for the most part, weren't even really familiar with Phil Eklund games.

They've all actually played Pax Porfiriana - once, over a year ago. Both kids have played Pax Pamir as well - The Girl, again, once, over a year ago, and Finnegan played it twice. Finnegan has also played Pax Renaissance once, but it was a while ago as well. So they were pretty much like newbs.

Amanda was utterly lost, she looked like she was about to fall asleep through half the game -not from boredom, just from being very, very tired. She said it looked really interesting but was just too tired to figure it out. The Girl was actually really close to winning with a Renaissance victory - Laws and Republics, but a second comet showed up and Finnegan scooped a Imperial victory!

It was a really fun game! It seems like everyone would be willing to try it again sometime. Perhaps on an afternoon when everyone is still wide awake!

Unfortunately the following morning I remembered WHY we had originally planned to play it Saturday. I actually had a nagging feeling when I told the kids on Saturday it was okay to put it off until tomorrow that there was some reason why we couldn't play it on Sunday, but couldn't think of what it was. Amanda and I had tickets for a play at the Persephone Theatre Sunday evening... totally missed it... DOH!?

Day 25 - Monday, 25 September 2017 - Codenames: Pictures

We were out to dinner at my folks to celebrate my sister's birthday and then the kids had their swim lessons and when they got home they desperately wanted to watch more of Heroes... so we play ONE quick round of Codenames: Pictures. I teamed up with The Girl and Amanda played with Finnegan. Amanda and Finnegan got a bit of a head start when The Girl guessed wrong on my first clue and actually picked on of THEIRS. We got it back by the end and actually won!

Day 26 - Tuesday, 26 September 2017 - Coup

Amanda and I had spent a long day out running around looking at countertops and tiles for our kitchen renovation. by the time we got back in the early evening, finnegan's D&D group had arrived and they were well into their game. After they left, we got in a super quick game of Coup before we all went off to bed. I don't love Coup, but we were running out of quick games to play. I actually ended up winning - mostly by NOT EVER bluffing!?

Day 27 - Wednesday, 27 September 2017 - Drakon

We actually had a bit more time today, but spent way too much time deciding what to play and ended up settling on a game of Drakon - which we played in, like, 15 minutes. The Girl suggested we play another round, but I was feeling a bit of gaming fatigue and said "no"...

 Day 28 - Thursday, 28 September 2017 - London

Today we had a bit more time on our hands - or at least we THOUGHT we did, so we broke out London. It's been a LONG time since we played but everyone seemed to have pretty fond memories of it and I was feeling like more Martin Wallace games play the same (sort of) and we've got A Study in Emerald down to just over an hour, so surely this wouldn't take us THAT long to play.. by the time we had a quick review of the rules and got it all set up and started playing the first turn, we realized we had less than an hour before Finnegan would have to leave to go play D&D (he's joined a group that plays after school on Thursdays and it just happens to be run by an old friend of mine that happens to teach there). But we left it out hoping to finish off the game after both kids get back from their classes at Persephone School of Theatre... which we did.

Final score:

Keira - 103 points
me - 73 points
Finnegan.. 3 points...

Seriously, he had 62 victory points accumulated at the end of the game, but Keira had managed to get rid of almost all her poverty and Finnegan was sitting on a pile that added up to -59 points!! He also did not get into the land buying and only had 4 stacks at the end of the game. Early in the game I thought his strategy of having only a few stacks would do well in reducing poverty, but whenever he ran the city he'd gain a bunch from cards in hand and didn't really get much out of each time he ran his city... I think it's more efficient to have about five stacks - that way it's a bit more efficient when you run your city, in that you at least get some stuff out of it each time you run it. Also - BUY LAND!

I like London. It's been waaaaay too damned long since we last played it. I do feel like it's another  game that we should play, like, 4-5 times in one week and then the rules (and maybe a bit of the strategy) will be solid enough in our heads that in the future we can just pull this out and play it in an hour (like we can with A Study in Emerald - Second Edition - well, except Amanda she always has to be reminded of the rules... and then still kicks our butts...).

Coming Soon to Tim's Miniature Wargaming Blog:

As I mentioned this weekend is ToonCon! We're all signed up for a lot of fun games.

I think Friday night we're all signed up to play 7 Wonders and then I'm playing Dominion, but some of the others are playing Roll for the Galaxy (I know Finnegan is, and maybe The Girl...?).

Saturday is a long day! I'm starting off with Castles of Mad King Ludwig and Finnegan is signed up for Sentinels of the Multiverse. I'm not sure what Amanda and The Girl are doing. After that I'm playing Scythe - so many people have raved about it, I thought I'd best check it out. Everyone else is playing Viticulture (which I'm kind of wishing I'd signed up for instead...). While I'm still playing Scythe I think some of them are playing 5 Tribes, or maybe Imhotep or Terra Mystica...? I can't remember. After that is the game auction (we had a pretty BIG HAUL from that last year!). Finally, in the evening I'm running my Faustus Furius: 3000 game while everyone else is playing... Small World..?  or Codenames...? I'm not sure... I know Nations is on in the evening, and despite everyone having played it and liked it, I don't think any of them signed up for it.

Sunday I think I'm starting with Kingdom Builder and Finnegan is playing Dominant Species... Again, I can't remember what Amanda and The Girl signed up for...?! After that I'm running the Pax Renaissance Learn-to-Play game for the rest of the day. I have a feeling Amanda and the Girl are signed up for Castles of Burgundy and Amanda may have signed up for Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar. I know Finnegan didn't sign up for anything in the last slot on Sunday because none of the games were of interest to him. The convention had a HUGE games library which you can just play pick up games with anyone who isn't doing anything, so I think he's planning to do that!

Stay tuned for reports of the entire weekend and a separate report of the FF3K game!
