In July, I played some games...

Kicking off gaming in July, we played this penultimate adventure for Warhammer Quest: Cursed City (at least, for the main campaign that came in the core box!)

Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - Session Twenty-Eight - Hunt Journey
Tuesday, 8 July 2025
This ended up being the Final Assault on Radukar's Citadel ending the Cursed City campaign! We played on a Tuesday because the "Decapitation Journeys" are a bit longer and we figured we'd start it on a Tuesday (as there was nothing in particular planned) and finish it on Wednesday (our regular Warhammer Quest night). But in the end the first part went quickly enough, we decided to just finish off the adventure right then and there!

Warhammer Quest: Cursed City - Session Twenty-Nine - THE FINAL ASSAULT?!

Things got rather busy after we finished up Warhammer Quest. Mostly Amanda and Morgan getting ready for their trip to England... I got busy painting things... and plotting...
Later in the month, after Amanda and Morgan left for England, I finally got back to PLAYING games...
(I don't know why I always forget to take pictures during role-playing games!?)
We made characters for a new soulbound campaign I'm calling "What We Do in the Realm of Shadows.
the campaign centers around a group of vampires in the Court of Blood (ostensibly serving Neferata, Mortarch of Blood)! Originally They'd held titles and land in Neferatia. During the Age of Chaos, their lands were lost to Khornate Horde. For a time they lived as refugees in Nulhamia as guests of other vampire lords, but quickly wore out their welcome and were getting pressured more and more to go and take back their ancestral lands!
Eventually they were given leave to flee to Ulgu, Realm of Shadow, to rebuild, conquer new land and raise an army for Neferata to take back their lands.
The group found an abandoned keep that had been built during the age of myth, but now was infested with skaven. They cleared the skaven out, and made some minimal repairs to make it livable and somewhat defensible. It is a rather shabby looking place that most passersby would still think abandoned - or HAUNTED - as many in the region do!
Nick is playing Lady Esmerelda (She/her) Vampire Lord
Orion is playing Sir Raven the Dour (They/them) Blood Knight (vampire on an undead horsie)
Finnegan is playing Sir Renmould of Sylum Field (he/him) Grave Guard (skeleton in a suit of army, magically animated, with some will of it's own and the ability to think and reason)
I'm not sure they totally leaned into making the least competent character they could have (as one might expect when one is playing a campaign inspired by What We Do in the Shadows...) but hopefully it should work out....

The very next day found me riding out to the Warhammer store to meet Orion and play some Spearhead (with the freshly painted Sand & Bone terrain bits!). I brought my Sylvaneth Bitterbark Copse and Orion had her Soulblight Gravelords Bloodcrave Hunt. As ever, her army utterly destroyed mine...

Thursday I rolled back out to the Warhammer store and this time I played a game of Age of Sigmar Spearhead against John, the store manager! He played with the Store's Seraphon Starscale Warhost, and I played with the Sylvaneth again! It was another crushing defeat...

There had been a Soulbound game planned for Tuesday, 29 July... but it got cancelled...
Wednesday, 30 July 2025
Back out to the Warhammer Store to play another game with John. This time I brought both Sylvaneth and Khorne armies and loaned the Sylvaneth to John to try out (he has his own but he is currently still assembling them)
This was the tenth game I played of Spearhead. It was the first one that I did not lose... but I didn't exactly WIN it either!?
At some point, I'll post a game report...
And that was it for the month... Two games of Cursed City, three games of Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Spearhead, and we made characters for a new Soulbound campaign... and then cancelled the following week... I thought I was going to get in a few more games than THAT!? Ah, well... maybe next month.
Fair number of games, hope you're not dead!

Ha-ha! No... not dead yet... Somehow it just didn't sink in that a month had passed and July was over and I hadn't yet updated this post!?
