Gaelic Hero

One of a few stands I hope to finish up before the Hordes of the Things Campaign coming up THIS WEEKEND!!!

The figure is an I-Kore Gael for their Keltos game. I picked it up for $1 in a bargain bin sometime after the game died.

He will be used as a hero (Bran Mac Tighem) for a generic Celtic fantasy army (which will be played by CVT this weekend!).

Of course a proper Gaelic Hero should probably be riding in a chariot… I actually HAVE a chariot somewhere… but this got done and the chariot didn’t so we have a horse riding Gaelic Hero (hey, it’s FANTASY!)

STILL More Sci-Fi Skirmishin’ stuff

Another couple options for Amanda’s replacement… The one on the left is from Reaper Miniatures Chronoscope line. The figure came with an open hand and the option of the BFG (shown here) or a Big Dang Wrench (one end would be held in the hand and the bulk of it resting on her shoulder). The figure on the right is from Artizan Designs Kiss Kiss Bang Bang line.


A couple Catachan Imperial Guardsmen (Guardspersons?) from Games Workshop (pictured here completely without their permission!) Actually the girlie with the big dang laser cannon is pre-catachan/cadian/valhallan/etc… She’s actually one of the Old Guard that I recently stripped for repainting. There’s one for sale on ebay at the moment… it’s currently £12 (+£4 shipping to Canada)?! The other chap with the Plasma Rifle is a more recent Catachan.

Speaking of Imperial Guard… and ebay… Three Catachan Sentinels arrived in the mail yesterday. I won a total of four of them all on one day last week on ebay. The grand total for all four (including shipping) was ~$35CAD… approximately the same as the suggested retail in CAD for ONE!? Why four, you might ask?! Well, honestly, I didn’t really expect to win ANY of them!?

The next week will be a mad scramble to get everything ready for the Hordes of the Things Campaign which will be taking place ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!!

After that I have some terrain and vehicles I want to make for some upcoming Spaces Skirmish/Adventures. Some of the vehicles will be the Sentinels and a Leman Russ tank I picked up about a year ago, but also I want to do a few scratch builds – the shuttle (or Dropship?) from the Muttonchop Express… part of me would like to model the interior of the Muttonchop Express for some onboard actions… but that might be going a bit too far for now… we shall see…

More Space-Gamin’ Stuff

These lads are from Artizan Designs Kiss Kiss Bang Bang line. They could potentially see use in the not-to-distant future as starship crew in my space campaign on Savage Saturday.


Mr. Secret Agent Man, also from Artizan Design’s Kiss Kiss Bang Bang line, could be some sort of Imperial Operative… or someone working for one side or another in some shady clandestine operation of a local government or a stellar megacorporation…


Another character for the aforementioned Space Campaign. The figure is from Reaper Miniatures Chronoscope line which has a lot of bizarre odds and bits…? (Amanda needs a new character as Abby “Ace” Grace got her heab bitten off by zombies and then riddled with 10mm explosive-tipped caseless (Standard Light Armour-Piercing) rounds last adventure).


Another of the old Grenadier Stellardate: 2998 minis. I think this one was called the “stiletto”.

MORE Strike Commandos

Five more Strike Commandos rolling off the line…

These are I-Kore Void Viridian Strike Commandos. They are apparently still available from Scotia Grendel. I now have ten finished and have another dozen to go!

I’m going to be using them as a small independent mercenary commando unit in my space campaign on Savage Saturdays…

Elf Archers and Strike Commandos

I’ve been trying to finish up all the plastic GW Elves I have. Once they are done there’ll be enough of them to make a rather decent army all of their own (with options). I may even have just enough to make 36+ army points… and then I might sell them or trade them away… we’ll see… I still have antoher stand or two of knights, a Hero, a wizard, and some rangers (sneakers) to do…

At the same time I’ve been working on sci-fi stuff for some new campaign options at Savage Timmy’s Playhouse!

These are old Games Workshop/Citadel plastic Elves.


While I knew these were Void miniatures from I-Kore, I had forgotten what faction they were as I had long since disposed of the blisters they came in. I thought perhaps they were Viridians but I had two other types of troops that I knew were Viridians (Commandos, who are much more lightly equipped, and Assault Marines, who are in power armour) but none of the equipment really matched… so I wasn’t sure…. Anyway I found out that Scotia Grendel is still making these “Void 1.1” figures and these are indeed Viridian STRIKE Commandos…. Not that I care to play Void, or know (or care to know) anything about Viridians… It’s just helpful to know what they are should I ever decide to add to the force!

For now I have enough Strike Commandos to field a Troop of two sections – each section breaking down to two teams of 5, plus two section Commanders and a Troop Leader. No heavy/support weapons at the moment, although I’m not entirely sure there ARE any Strike Commando Support weapon figures…

The regular old (not-so-striking) Viridian Commandos – due to their similar light order of equipment, including scantly clad chests - will probably get lumped in with the few GW Catachan Imperial Guardsmen that I have.

More Elves, Strike Commandos and Space Ships… I have another team of five strike commandos more than half done. The few Elvish knights, hero and magician could all be done as a batch-lot. And I spent a bit of time assembling and prepping a few Aerotech craft the other night and they’re ready to go along with the rest of the Stellardate: 2998 ships I have…

Thanks to El Grego I an now able to identify some of these space ships if found in some “junk” boxes. This one is actually just PART of a Behemoth Class Battleship from Grenadier’s Stellardate: 2998 range of crafts. As I'm not sure I ever even HAD the fore section I'm just going to use this as-is...

I have a few more I’ll be painting up over the next little bit, as well as a few Aerotech2 ships I just picked up off ebay… and maybe some Silent Death minis I’ve set my sights on…

Meanwhile, down “Dirtside”, on the skirmish side of things…


These are two Future Troopers of some sort from I-Kore’s VOID game. I picked up a PILE of these out of a bargain bin for $1 per pack… I just don’t get it… People just can’t see past minis that are tied to systems being useable for anything other than THAT SYSTEM…


As alluded to in the previous post I have a few Games Workshop Imperial Guardsmen I’m painting up as well to be the above troopers nemesis – a rival mercenary outfit that always happens to turn up on the opposing side, no matter where they go…

A Blast from the (Future) Past

Below are some old (OLD!) Imperial Guardsmen. Actually some weren't Imperial Guardsmen, they were space pirates but gen-u-ine Imperial Guardsmen were tricky to come by 20+ years ago in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada when I purchased and painted these...

I've been having a hankering to play some Sci-fi skirmish gaming and have started painting up some more "modern" Imperial Guardsmen (more on that in a moment) and I've been thinking it's about time I updated these... so their off to the Pinesol bath shortly and I kind of wanted to have some record of what they originally looked like.
