Getting a little behind on posting things here... As the next game is THIS EVENING, I best get this FINISHED!!!
Picking up from where we left off the Previous Evening...
(though with some minor changes, as I'd realized while re-reading some of the rules, I'd made some serious errors!)
When doing the Exploration action - to reveal more rooms, TWO rooms are to be revealed each time... and I was only putting out ONE... which severely slowed their progress... for the number of times they'd done the Exploration action, there should have been FOUR MORE ROOMS out on the table!
We discussed this as decided to put two out (four would also just put a BUNCH MORE monsters on the table!)
(I also said they could ignore the Event from the last turn - which has indicated NO DESTINY DICE could be rolled... Which would mean Jelson Darrock would be unable to move out of that room - as he'd taken enough wounds to fill his activation track - and thus would be out of action at the beginning of the next round!)
Even so, they had a skeleton to kill to get past into the next room... where there was a Kosargi Nightguard! Even with the adjustments, I thought this might be tought to get past!
But Brutogg went first and shouldered past the skeleton AND the undead Ogor and then just started beating on the Ogor... SAVAGELY!!!
The rest scrambled through just before the Suffocating Gravetide ravaged the courtyard they'd been in!
Amanda and Finnegan discussing options...
We had a LOT of Crises to deal with in this game... Some from remembering to use the event table at the end of each round. Some from exploring Mysterious Objects. I can't remember any of them... I should take better notes.
Again, Brutogg charged ahead, smashing in a door and finding two Zombies shuffling about within.
Watch Captain Halgrim made another appearance!
Emelda and Brutogg dealt with the Watch Captain and his fellow undead minions.
Unable to escape the bats that had swarmed them, both Darrock and Ven Alten tried to recuperate some of their wounds before the Suffocating Gravetide dealt them MORE...
...and pushed them on into the next square.
Emelda and Brutogg charding ahead, clearing the way and shouting warnings to all the mortal citizens in the area.
Darrock, just barely keeping ahead of the Suffocating gravetide!
Brutogg smashing more Zombies...
Emelda and Glaurio cutting through more more zombies.
And the another Vampire came for the Vampire Hunter.
Brutogg smashing his way into another building, destroying more Ulfenwatch within.
Darrock FLED the Vampire, only for it to chase him down, and cut him down right amongst his allies.
Those allies took down the Vyrkos Blood-Born Vampire!
more rats and zombies...
There were a number of rooms in a row where there were no civilians to be warned, we wondered if we would exhaust the deck before being able to warn the eight required to successfully complete the journey!
(I had checked before we started play, and there were ten cards in total that had the mark that indicated civilians were present that could be warned!)
Finally found a few more rooms where people could be warned!
Rats chasing after Ven Alten - or just trying to escape the Suffocating Gravetide!?
Ven Alten stormed past Brutogg and Emelda into a room with Zombies and fired his pistol... and missed entirely..
So he and Emelda charged in and cut them down with their swords!
Finally one last courtyard - a garden - where civilians could be warned, then they could summon the Adamant for extraction!
But first there were Ulfenwatch to get rid of...
and then ANOTHER Vyrkos Blood-Born Vampire!
Still more Zombies and Ulfenwatch were suffling their way!
Venn Alten Finished off the last Vyrkos Blood-Born... Civilians were warned to get away...
Emelda summoned the Adamant
And everyone started making their way to the extraction square!
Ooof! It was getting close!
But they all managed to get in there and away before either the horde of undead or the Suffocating Gravetide caught up!
Jelson Darrock was also successfully extracted from a rooftop he'd managed to drag himself up to, and he made a full recovery!
Everyone gained another experience token - after one more journey they will all be Level One!
Everyone was able to pool their Realmstone and get Brutogg a Weapon Empowerment - Aether-Sharpened Edge - which increases the damage dealt by his melee weapons when dealing not critical damage!
Influence rose a little, but fear dropped... What sort of mission will they do next week?! (or... this evening!!)
Sadly I have NOT finished more of the Hero miniatures, so they'll probably end up having to play these four again tonight...
So... Thursday evening's game went a bit smoother now that we were putting down the right number of rooms/squares after each Explore action.
Once I get the Hostile Reinforcement sorted out, it shouldn't be SO dire ALL THE TIME! I could not find an official FAQ, but read through a bit of the forum on Board Game Geek and found others were also confused by the Hostile Reinforcements and there were a LOT of people suggesting that new Hostiles are only to be placed on the board when encountered in new rooms... which would make this WAY easier/less dire.. I was probably putting out 2-3x as many as they should have faced - consequently slowing the game down considerably! (AND the game reports!)
We'll try it the other way next time we do a Deliverance Journey...
Still having loads of fun playing this!
REALLY NEED TO FINISH THE OTHER HEROES! After the next mission the others cannot gain more experience until the first Decapitation Journey is completed!
