Russian MVD, Spartan Generals, and Other Such Stuff

It’s turning out to be a rather productive week here…

(Remember: click on the pictures for a bigger version):

These are some Russian MVD troops ready for some urban/counterterrorist (or… counterzombie…?) action. The figures are from The Assault Group. I picked these and a bunch of other modern items from  fellow blogger Alex who was selling them on the Ambush Alley Games Forum. Stay tuned for more of those!

These figures are supposed to be Vietnam US Special Forces from West Wind Productions, but I’ve painted them up in a more modern woodland camouflage thinking I could pass them off as modern generic US-backed Central American soldiers.

Of course a couple days after I ordered these from West Wind I noticed another bunch being sold by another blogger on the AAG Forum... which I also picked up... along with  a pile of other Vietnam and modern stuff (which will hopefully be arriving shortly!).

Gentlemen Scavenger from EM4 Miniatures. Perhaps Rick could use this figure if Lord Stang survives his current predicament and lives long enough to see the end of times and continue on as a survivor of whatever brings about the apocalypse (zombies, probably).

Finally, a Spear General element for a Spartan DBA Army. Most of the figures are from Black Tree Design, but there is a Wargames Foundry  hornblower lurking in the back…

At one point I’d thought I might do a Greek City State campaign for this February’s Wargame Weekend, but that seems unlikely at the moment… largely because of BTDs 70% off sales I now have enough figures for five (FIVE!!) Greek DBA armies – not to mention the Skythians and Thracians (or Amazons or Centaurs!) that I also have… I think the fun thing about running that campaign is that all the armies would be more or less equal (unlike the Dark Ages Campaign I ran last February, where the Saxons almost always beat the Welsh, Irish, and Scots, the Vikings almost always beat the Saxons, and the Normans beat EVERYONE!).

Coming soon on Tim’s Miniature Wargaming Blog:

More modern stuff...

  1. I love the MDV guys. I enjoy painting different looking camo patterns as often as I can get away with it, and that blue looks awesome! Good work.

    1. Thanks Ben! They were a lot of fun to paint. So much fun I'm working on another (bigger) batch of them - even though I have no real practical use for them!?
