These two horrific-giant-fly-riding-Rotbringers of Nurgel came in the Maggotkin of Nurgle Spearhead box. They can be built as either two Pusgoyle Blightlords OR one Pusgoyle Blightlord and one Lord of Afflictions! Despite the fact that the Spearhead army is meant to have just two Pusgoyle Blightlords, I built one as a Lord of Afflictions and figured most wouldn't know the difference - as it's two blobby dudes riding giant fly-things...
The reason I did one of each is that if ever I expanded beyond just Spearhead play, force need to be organized into regiments lead by Heroes, some of which are very particular about who they will lead in their regiment! At the time, I only had Heroes that would lead Nurgle Daemons or Rotbringer (mortal servants of Nurgle) INFANTRY... and these are considered Cavalry. The Lord of Afflictions is a Rotbringer Hero that can include Pusgoyle Blightlords (or Plague Drones!) in their regiment...
(Mind you now I have a Great Unclean One - which can lead include ANY Maggotkin of Nurgle (Daemon or Rotbringer) in their regiment - and a Harbinger of Decay - which can include ANY Rotbringer in their regiment... so the Lord of Afflictions is less necessary...)
Lord of Afflictions and Pusgoyle Blightlord
I made the mistake of FULLY ASSEMBLING these before painting them... and that turned out to be a nightmare. For the next four, I will definitely be painting some parts or sub-assemblies before final assembly and touch-ups!
Lord of Afflictions
Pusgoyle Blightlord - the Pusgoyle Blightlords can be fielded in either a unit of one, or as a unit of two - that can be reinforced to four.
I have four more to build that came with the Shudderblight Cyst Battleforce Box... I wasn't sure, initially if I should build one as a Lord of Afflictions... because then I'd have two Lords of Afflictions and then two units of two Pussgoyle Blightlords... but considering now I have 6-7 Heroes ; Great Unclean One, Harbinger of Decay, Lord of Afflictions, Lord of Plagues, Sloppity Bilepiper, and Spoilpox Scrivener (and, technically, a Rotbringer Sorcerer, if I use Fecula Flyblown!) That's more than I really need...
I think you can only have five regiments...? And, for the most part, each regiment is lead by a single Hero.... though there are a few that can include another hero... The Great Unclean One can include a Plague Scion (A daemon hero - like the Sloppity Bilepiper or Spoilpox Scrivener) and the Harbinger of Decay can include a Rotbringer Lord - like the Lord of Plagues!)
So the five regiments could be
- Great Unclean One (with the either the Sloppity Bilepiper or Spoilpox Scrivener as a Plague Scion)
- Harbinger of Decay (with the Lord of Plagues as a Rotbringer Lord)
- Lord of Afflictions
- either the Sloppity Bilepiper or Spoilpox Scrivener (whichever one ISN'T in the Great Unclean One's regiment)
- Rotbringer Sorcerer
So I'll probably build all the others as Pusgoyle Blightlords.
now that these are done, though, I can play some SPEARHEAD with the Maggotkin of Nurgle!!
Maggotkin of Nurgle Spearhead! with the Maggotkin of Nurgle
The Maggotkin of Nurgle is a classic match for the Sylvaneth that Amanda is currently favouring! Stay tuned for that!! During the Age of Chaos, Ghyran, the Realm of Life, was almost completely overrun by the servants of Nurgle and much of the fighting in Nurgle since the begining of Sigmar's Tempest at the dawn of the Realmgate Wars, has been the forces of Order trying to cleanse the realm of the taint of Nurgle!!
The entire Nurgle Army, so far...
Rotbringer Sorcerer-General's Regiment
- Rotbringer Sorcerer (1) 110
- Lord of Plagues (1) 100
- Putrid Blightkings (5) 190
Spoilpox Scrivener's Regiment
- Spoilpox Scrivener, Herald of Nurgle (1) 80
- Plaguebearers (10) 140
- Plaguebearers (10) 140
Lord of Afflictions' Regiment
- Lord of Afflictions (1) 170
- Pusgoyle Blightlords (1) 130
Total: 1060
MORE than I'd need for a starting Path to Glory army! I'd have to drop the Lord of Plagues.
To this I will be adding The Great Unclean One, a Harbinger of Decay, a Sloppity Bilepiper, five more Putrid Blight Kings, four more Pusgoyle Blightlords, and ten Rotmire Creed...
I have the Great Unclean One assembled and primed!
(and the Sloppity Bilepiper is coming along as well!)
Haven't even opened the Shudderblight Cyst Battleforce Box yet!
