After the loss of Dagnai Holdenstock, our heroes were angry and out for REVENGE... Their rage may have made them a tad RECKLESS....
Strangely, Octren Glimscry was the first out of the landing zone.
He quickly located one of the Gnawbone Strays and chased after it, staring at it... until it dissolved into dust.
"Why can't you just HIT IT for once!?" called out one of the others... Octren paid them no mind.
Qulathis the Exile went off exploring in another direction and was ambushed by a Vyrkos Blood-Born vampire and a mix of Deadwalker Zombies and skeletal guard of the Ulfenwatch! She quickly backed out, firing arrows into the Vyrkos until it looked like a pincushion!
The Brutal bullied his way into the room smashing apart the zombies and skeletons
Glaurio was swarmed by zombies, and Brutogg came to his aid...
But not before Glaurio was savaged by the Deadwalkers! Yikes!
Qulathis joined in to finish off the last of them!
MORE Vyrkos Blood-Born arrived - wishing to see what had become of their friend after hearing their horrible, distant cries!
Qulathis bolted off chasing down more diregoyles and gnawbone strays... first she put an arrow through the gnawbone stray...
Then chased down the wretched little diregoyle!
Octren destroyed the first of the Vyrkos Blood-born, but was having some trouble holding back he others.
Brutogg and Glaurio came running to his aid... though there was little Glaurio could contribute, considering his state!
Qulathis joined in as well
One was destroyed, but another swarmed into the room with a cloud of bats!
leaving Brutogg and Octren to deal with the vampire and bats, Qulathis ran off to chase down another Diregoyle she'd spotted!
But then rushed back to help deal with another patrol of the Ulfenwatch that had marched onto the scene.
another member of the Ulfenwatch snuck up behind and shanked Glaruio!
Glaurio was out momentarily...
But returned a few moments later, having crawled off into a nearby alley for some cover and a breather and a moment to apply some bandages... He was STILL not looking great, though...
The hour was getting late and the group realized they would not be able to chase down and kill nearly enough of Carmilla's minions before they were overwhelmed and it was decided they should fight their way through to the extraction zone and just call it a night... before any met the fate Dagnai had on the last mission!
Endless annoying creatures just kept piling out of every nook and cranny, though...
And then Radukar THE BEAST made his first appearance since the end of his reign...
He was even HUGER and MORE TERRIFYING that he'd been while ruling over Ulfenkarn.
The hulking beast advance on Octren, who was trying to stare him down and simply swatted him across the courtyard where Octren slammed into the wall
where he fell to the ground in a crumpled heap, utterly broken...
(I have to admit, I hadn't really even bothered to look at Radukar the Beast's card until he showed up... by Sigmar's Hairy Cock, he is DEADLY!!)
Brutogg and Qulathis ducked past him and made their way to the extraction zone... abandoning Glaurio to his fate...
Then the ogor and the forest elf look at each other... and listened to the pleas for help from their comrade who had saved both of their lives more than they could count...
Qulathis said: "We're going back to get him, aren't we...?"
The ogor nodded; "For Dagnai...."
Brutogg charged back into the square, behind the gargantuan monster that was bearing down on Glaurio ven Alten III... and just started beating upon the beast.
Qualthis joined in by firing all arrow after arrow into the savage brute.... and eventually it fell...
Qulathis and Brutogg quickly retreated to the Extraction Zone... but Glaurio was going a bit more slowly... until he was nearly swarmed by scores of bats and rats...
Which seemed to speed up his pace a bit!
The three made it out.... but what of their compatriot, Octren...?
The post-game survival roll was pretty tense...
But Finnegan rolled a 4... the minimum he could roll and NOT have Octren die! (which would have ENDED the entire campaign right there!!)
So things did not go great... the mission was not a success and the DOOM Level ticked up to two!
But at least neither Octren and Glaurio died! And... as terrifying as Radukar the Beast is... he is NOT indestructible!!
I'm still a bit behind on these game reports... I have one from last week and the one we played just last night to finish up (as well as TWO Age of Sigmar game reports from last week!)
And SO MANY things to assemble and paint!
